Percy's Rocket Those giving Blakey some stick please remember he needs some games under his belt.

He said himself he's fully-fit and has been training solidly for three months. Of course he's not match-fit but tonight was not lack of sharpness, it was lack of an engine. He was covering up the fact he couldn't run

Shows how much we miss Ivar, sometimes you don't realise how good someone is until they are out the team the bloke never gives less than 7/10. As for Little considering he hasn't played for ages I thought he did ok.

Federici: 6 - Couldn't have done much about either goal, thought his distribution wasn't as good as normal and nearly got caught out in the second half when he came searching for a ball midway inside our half.
Armstrong: 7 - Fairly solid game
Pearce: 9 - Outstanding, won everything and didn't put a foot wrong all night
Duberry: 3 - Worst centre back performance I've seen for ages, he has to be dropped for Bikey
Rosenior: 4 - Hooooooooooof...did I mention he can't defend either?
S Hunt: 4 - Non-existent
Cisse: 6 - Did okay although he backed off too much for my liking at times
Matejovsky: 6 - Mixed bag - some decent balls, some mistakes, looked to create for others
Little: 6 - Kept coming inside far too much instead of hugging the touchline like he used to and whipping balls in. Still got it though
Doyle: 6 - Tried his heart out and was a menace to their defence who resorted to fouling him all game
Long: 8 - Great run in the first half where he nearly scored, even better one for the penalty and great header for the second. All round game was much improved, even his first touch.

Subs:
Tabb: 6 - Did okay, took him a while to get up with the pace of the game although I'd like to see him start in place of S Hunt.
N Hunt: 6 - Didn't really have much impact on the game
Harper: 6 - See N Hunt

Well done Charlton, great effort last night taking an early lead, then sitting back to try to protect it for 75 minutes which was not going to happen. Went 2-1 down and then took the game to Reading and got the equalizer.

Why did teh they get the equalizer pretty easy really as RFC’s football is predicable and has become extremely boring to watch.

Deathy Little was NOT great in the first half. Who were you watching? He did ok, but seemed to cut in at the halfway line oh too often and we had feck all down the right.

The team performance was utter gash. Hoof... player waves frantically for ball, he gets it...HOOF. Player passes ball, gives it away...again. Bollocks.

Totally agree about Little. I don't recall him beating a man once or getting in one of his famous 'Little' crosses from the byline. He played as I expected, lacking match fitness and a player past his best. Still don't worry, Dave 'firing blanks' Kitson will no doubt dislodge Shane Long from the team on Saturday.
I think Coppell is beginning to lose the plot big time. Whoever goes up out of the current top six will need to spend big time.

Reading are playing like a team that does not want to be promoted and I'm sorry but the loan signings of Kitson and Little are not a sign of forward thinking ambition in my view.

Don't take this as a "getting on the players back, drop him now, he's rubbish" type of comment, but Marek was poor last night, and with him in the team what we gain going forward we lose in defense. So when he has a game like last night where he gave the ball away as much as he did he starts to look like a luxury you can't afford to have in the team. Or is it just me?

Was pleased with the performances of Alex Pearce and Shane Long last night, it was encouraging to see 2 of the youngsters having a good game. It was a shame we couldn't hold on, but it could have been worse for a good save from Federici at the end. Matejovsky and Cisse didn't control the midfield as I hoped they would, S. Hunt was largely anonymous. Doyle needs to give the captaincy to someone else.

Here are the current issues as I see them:

1) Federici - does not command his area and is suspect on balls coming high in to the box, especially to the far post. His positioning is weak and his distribution is no longer an asset. Hahneman needs to come back in to the side.

2) Duberry - seems unable to mark anyone at set pieces

3) Rosenior - what has happened to him? Regularly out of position and continually hoofs the ball even when he is not under pressure. I lost count of the times he gave away possession by hoofing it long when there was a simple short pass in field.

4) Matejovsky - by far the most talented passer of the bal in the team but we just don't use him. If he doesn't get the ball in space to work his magic then there is no point in him being in the team.

5) SHunt - he no longer contrinutes much in an attacking sense and he fell asleep for the Charlton opening goal by not tracking his man. Drop him now and bring in Tabb, it just might give him the kick up the backside he needs.

6) Doyle - he seems to be having a tounch of the "Kitson's" at the moment. He is dropping far too deep or wide and is then not in the box when the ball goes in. I think this is related to having Matejovsky in the team as he feels he needs to drop back in to midfield to help them out.

On the positive side:

1) Cisse had a superb second half and did what he is there to do, break up the opposition moves and start attacks of our own.

2) Shane Long - looked a different player last night. Made driving runs in to the box, closed defenders down, had a decent first touch.....

3) Alex Pearce - again looked composed and is getting more confident with his distribution. Just needs to work a bit on creating a partnership with his fellow central defender.

For the 4th home game in a row we looked like a team that had gone into the game with no tactical preparation whatsoever.

Long was flattered by his 2 goals i think, spent most of the game satuesque whist Doyle worked his nuts off.

Our Centre Backs, particularly Duberry, were utter gash. Pearce is not even close to being good enough for a team looking for Premiership Football, i dont care if he came from our Academy or not. Bikey must feel insulted.

Well, while we went on that goal drought everyone seemed to ignore the fact we were getting worse and worse at the back and last night the chickens really came home to roost. The Charlton equaliser was as inept a defensive attempt as I've seen since, ooh, their first goal last night.
As is traditional I'll single out a couple of escape goats
Rosenior - can't defend and finally gets a quality right winger to link up with and decides to just hoof the ball constantly, yeah well done
Marek - as anonymous in the middle last night as Harper ever was when he was hounded out by our idiot fans
Duberry - wake up!

There were some positives mind you with the return of the white pele looking nice, would have been nicer if he had a decent RB to link up with, is Murty still injured? Also very well done Shane Long really good job of holding the ball up and never stopping, I wouldn't be stunned if it's your strike partner who ends up making way for Kits on Saturday.

Can't be bothered to think too much more about it but hey, we didn't lose any ground last night and luckily for me I can't make it on saturday, doubtless this means we'll have a blinder.

I think Parky sussed fed not coming for balls, from memory all of the Charlton free kicks went to the man at the back, fairly close to the keeper. Meanign doobs was trying to step back to get under the ball, fed was unsure wether to come and collct, co a fairly easy header for the second goal, maybe Parky did a good job on us there

LOL. You missed his schoolboy foul for the 2nd goal then.

His basic defending is OK, his distrution is simply appalling. And he is so paceless i think i could beat him in flip flops.

Coppell as good as slated our Centre Backs in his post match radio comments. Not that he will ever name names.

If you think thats doing nothing wrong then fair play.

But i guess he was still better than Duberry last night.

The foul he gave away about 30 yards out? Yeah, the goal was his fault rather than Duberry's inability to mark a player inside the 6 yard box for the second game in a row. Probably the only foul he gave away all evening, where Duberry cost us more fouls than balls he actually won. I agree Pearce isn't the quickest, but he more than makes up for this in his reading of the game and aerial ability. Duberry is also slow but has neither of these qualities.

I'll hold my hands up and say I was pleasantly surprised by Long's work rate last night. He went in for tackles and he's definitely more confident on the ball. One of our most improved players I'd say, though, admittedly, that's not saying a lot.

I thought Little did ok when you consider he hasn't played with a lot of the current side, particularly Rosenior in the Murts role, and could only have had, what, 2 days maximum to train with them? I think Rosy will learn a lot from Glen and hopefully will come to understand each other. Time and again, Little was on his own in acres of space but no-one picked him out to pass to him. Marek did alright, considering. Again, I think he and Glen will work well together. SHunt needs to play in the reserves.

The ref was absolute shite. He should have blown up for time before we bothered putting the ball on the corner spot OR let us take the frigging corner. And why wasn't the bloke who fouled Long for the penalty booked, yet we had two, what I consider to be, soft bookings later on?
