SLAMMED
Southbank Old Boy
SLAMMED .... But Doyle is a bit of a mystery. Maybe an injury but nothings been mentioned.

Its been mentioned that he has a knock hence not playing the other day too

But to be left out of the squad completely, you think wewould have been told more about his situation.

I heard that he'd broken down in training on Friday. No idea if it's true or not.

Some good spurts of growth coming through from players I would like to see here next season (Stretch, Karacan, Tabb, NHunt, Long). Rest were utter toss that I am glad won't be here hopefully. It's a joke to think that we will end up in the playoff by virtue of our goal difference built up from all the set pieces in the first half of the season. If we got promoted then I dread to think what it would do to the club

Royal Lady I'm really angry about it all today - they've thrown it all away, because they don't give 100% and that irks me so much, when we pay our hard earned money to watch it and they effectively treat us as if they don't give a flying one. I'd like a word or two with them all in the dressing room, that's for sure.
you may well enjoy your time in the dressing room  ....but there are approximately 80 other teams worth of fans who feel as p155ed off as we are right now.

Give over.. relax.......it is football

I enjoyed the laid-back sedentary pace of it all............I had a nice snooze

This game finally proved to me that we are just not good enough and it will be a blessing in disguise if we don't get promoted so that we can blend a new team around some of our promising youngsters. My overriding memory of a forgettable game is:

1.two dire 'wing' performances from Kebe and Shunt
2.Coppell standing perplexed and hiding down the tunnel in the second half
3.Little walking up the tunnel to 'warm up' in the second half
4.Kitson-all flailing arms and legs. No wonder the guy hardly ever scores as he doesn't get in the box enough. The speed in which he moves from defence to attack is laughable.
5.Probably one of the shortest midfields I have seen for many a year.

Very very disapointing!

The bit about the 80 other teams just ignores the nature of our collapse from looking like one of the strongest teams in the division to one of the weakest most gutless and incompetent collection of players.

We have one of the most expensive and highest paid squads in the division and some of the most talented individuals but we still can’t manage to beat some of the weakest teams in the league.

That hurts, and that’s cause for complaint.

The two most interesting things for me this weekend was Coppell’s admission that his players just aren’t hungry enough for it this season and that he agreed with my assessment of the form earlier in the season when we really didn’t deserve some of those big winning margins.

i thought it was a decent game

we looked by far the more likely to score, created a fair few decent chances, at least one of which should have been converted(-kebe, long, or kitson!)

its not right yet, but teh last three games have IMO sen at least some signs of us starting to splutter back into life

really liked the midfield performance by karacan, and especially Tabb
lovely to see effort, tackles, and passing which is something weve been missing!

stretch again very good

shunt and kebe were poor, but at least kebe still managed at least three crosses that should have been finished off

much less hoofball, nice to see marcus rolling th eball out in the 2nd half(just do it quicker buddy)

gutted noel got injured, he does seem a bit lightweight in that respect

i enjoyed it really, for a nil nil, and only in the last 15 minutes did i start to think we werent going to get that winner

thats the positivity update for the day

negatives:
kitson too deep, little too old, bikey criminally lackadaisical with his passing
nobody in the team can finish for toffee

On the positive side I tend to agree with Brendy that the second half was bar far the best football we've played (at home at least) for some time.

We tried to pass and we actually looked a little more like a team of players who could play football as opposed to just run and kick it as far as possible.

We still lacked a real cutting edge or any real quality though and yet again the visiting keeper had very little to do.

That happens after we beat Derby.

Man Friday I've been away - is it possible for someone to update me in a non-condascending way on why Doyle wasn't in the 16 and why Nunt went off 5 mins into second half? (No sneering responses please.)

Doyle - injured knee.

NHunt - chased a ball he was never going to get, fell badly and injured himself. Brave but stupid.

I think to call it a fall is being a huge amount generous to Darren Powell. It was a very clear obstruction that ought to have been penalised. I guess that the referee was leveling things out after the blatant shove that he allowed Kitson to get away with?

Agree with both BrendyWendy and Royal Lady although not sure how as they appear to be contrasting views!!!

Not seen Reading score in a live match since December 13th Vs Norwich although I've been to all the non-televised home matches (except Cardiff Boxing Day) and a couple of away ones!!! Can you believe it? Absolutely incredible.

floyd__streete Well that was a total waste of a beautiful day. I recall earlier this season a whole load of you drones getting you knickers in a twist when Alex McLeish had the temerity to suggest that we don't play the best football; the first half today was kick and rush drivel of the lowest standard and the reason for this dire style of football became abundantly clear second half when we did ocassionally get the ball to a wingers only to be let down time and time again by the total lack of any technique from the disgracefully disinterested Stephen Hunt and the utterly woeful Jimmy Kebe. Other worms in this steaming pile of turd were Andre Bikey for his couldn't-care-less distribution and the pathetic Dave Kitson who is - predictably - a shadow of his former self having wasted an entire season in Stoke City's reserve team.

errr i think you will find Mcleish said that about his own team..

I don't really understand how the Barnsley defender, who held on to Shane Long's arm, only received a yellow card. Surely a foul done on a forward who was through on goal and preventing a goal-scoring opportunity is a professional foul and therefore a red card offence?

This was my intial reaction to the incident. But I'm not sure whether there other defender would have been a covering player or not.

As far as I can remember, I cannot remember a player who would have been close enough to block a shot had Shane been able to take a kick there and then.

That's why it was a yellow card.

You reckon he couldn't score from there?
