Alan Partridge
Maguire lol@assessing a player based on one touch. If I look at the moment in the first half where he failed to control a ball down the channel and ran it out for a throw-in could I rightfully assume that he's useless and shouldn't have been given a contract?

Snowball is getting more and more desperate it seems, like a boxer whose got to throw haymakers in the 12th in the hope of an unlikely knockout.

No "desperate" at all. I just can't believe the general air of negativity on this list.

This is what amazes me. I KNOW Long has his problems. I've said his lack of a GREAT first touch
and his (currently) inability to be a good holder-up of the ball like say Jason Scotland, means he probably
won't get regularly picked in a 4-5-1

But that one touch in the Chelsea game was, from what I could see, "world-class" (and would have been hailed as such had any Chelsea
player done it, or Doyle, or Church, or Van Persie, Arshavin, Ronaldo, etc.

Then the kid showed a lot of courage and confidence in attacking two brilliant defenders, and to finally cut between them was awesome

But the fact is we WILL be playing 4-5-1/4-3-3 this season so really you are just agreeing with us all that Shane Long ISN'T the answer to our problems upfront.

Hoop Blah
Snowball
Hoop Blah It doesn't really matter Snowball, we're just pointing out that you're obviously commenting on something you don't have the most knowledge on having not seen the game, and not having the best recollection of the passage of play your trying to sound all knowing about!

I didn't see the game live but I have watched the move and the goal and in context it was brilliant.

So you didn't watch the rest of the game but feel well equipped to be critical of the assesements of Longs play by those that did?

And you say you're the enlightened one who doesn't jump to narrow minded conclusions and only base your opinions and posts on here on pure fact!!

WOW!

No response Snowball? No explanation as to how you can criticise the opinons of those who watched the game when you only saw the one highlight of Shane's contribution?

As for the negativity you see around Shane, you've been just as negative about his abilities to fit in with Rodgers formation but then you slag of 'the list' for doing the very same thing.

If you'd ever had it I'd say you've lost the plot...

Now he's saying that NHunt will be an excellent goal scoring right winger for us.

Of course the only real evidence we have is his ~45 minutes against Chelsea, where he contributed essentially zero. I mean it took me 20 minutes to realise he'd come on at half time ffs!

NHunt for the middle = yes please.

NHunt for the right wing = not unless HRK, Henry, Kebe, Church and Long aren't available to play there on that one showing.

Shane Long is 2nd favourite at 12/1 to win the Championship's golden boot this season.

Simon Cox is first at 12/1 as well.

Noel Hunt is 28/1
Simon Church is 33/1
Nicholas Bignall is 66/1

I know very little about gambling as well, but those odds tip us that Shane Long is going to be the 2nd best striker in the league this season.

If Long is the second top scorer in the Championship this season I will eat John Madejski's wig.

Snowball seems to love Long almost as much as Compo's ex's cousin who has pictures of Shane adorning her wall. Man crush, maybe.

Might have a little flutter on Biggers. Those odds are just too good to turn down.
