Royal Lady Cheers for the responses guys. Glad BR has managed to compromise somewhat before it's way too late - shows he's still learning and willing to accept when some of his decisions have been wrong. Sorry to see that Marek and Harper don't seem to figure in his plans at all though.
Onwards and upwards!

The arrogance of this post is simply breath-taking!
Rodgers is a professional football manager - you are not. He has not compromised, he's in the process, after 5 league games, of working out both his best system and the players that will fit that system, a process that may take half a season. I'm sure with your wealth of experience you could do a far better job.

Ian Royal Not a fan of long throws, seen them made to work far far too infrequently. Usually they are very easy to defend against.
It's not just about the distance, but about the trajectory and accuracy as well. At worst I guess it's a useful thing to throw in th emix as a surprise every now and then. Not that I expect him to play a particularly big role this season.

As you say, it's all about the trajectory and accuracy, but Stoke use this to full efect every game. Teams dread facing their throws. And of course, you can't be offside either.

Royalee Everything in football is a waste of time if you can't do it properly, why so negative?

Because Stoke and Delap are the only team I've seen make long throws consistently effective. I've seen us try them with plenty of different throwers, at plenty of different times over the last 10 - 15 years. They've always been crap. Like short corners.
Why go for it, when with a bit of decent movement you can take a short one and have different options to try: to run at the defence, spread the play to the other wing, cross from deep, or go to the byline and cross.
Long throws smack of desperation and inelegance to me.
