Gordon Strachan

by (.)Boobies(.) » 12 Oct 2009 16:05

Had a brief meeting with him this weekend, while away on business. General chit chat about the game, and then the question was asked about whom I supported. We discussed Reading and the current predicament we find ourselves in. (He likes Rodgers, and had more to say about the chairman here and the restrictions in place - I didn't ask how he knew what he knew). Then I ask him if he would be interested in the managers position if it became available. His answer was one of mixed feelings. Good well run club, stadium, facilities, potential fan base = big club in the making; but an interfering chairman that by all accounts pokes his nose and involves himself in the dressing room before matches, amongst other things I shant divulge. Would he like the job? Yes. Would he take it if offered? Mebee. Could he work with the chairman? Doesn't think so. Just gossip really, rather than a rumour as such.

As an aside, and more importantly: Rock or Con Air? "You wahh...em... The Rock"

Interesting Boobs.

JM has been well known topp into the dressing room to give a little motivational speech but I'm not sure hwo much he 'interferes' in ways that would really matter - like team selection ! There was a conversation on the Radio with Bruce Buck of Chelsea and he was very open that he goes into the dressing room. And bearing in mind Abrahomivic has a reputation of being VERY hands on I would imagine being Chelsea boss could be quite tough.

From the little I know of SJM I would suspect his 'interference' may simply require the manager to say 'Yes Mr Chairman' and then forget any comment was ever made....

Disappointing that Strachan considers we're a well run club. He clearly hasn't read HNA in enough depth !

Reading certainly are a well run club, the best in the country possibly the world. I don't know why no one else follows the same principles.

Scutts is going to put what to bed? That Strachan spoke to Boobies? :|

From what I remember if the summer, Boobies and Gazza loyal royal were spot on with numerous rumours. What are you getting at?

I often wonder if a Charman should ever enter the dressing room, I feel there should be a respectful distance between them. After good victories a drink in the players lounge seems ok, but keep out of the dressing room.

Indeed. I wish I could elaborate further but I really must bite my tongue.

I'm always a bit suspicious of people who claim to have 'info' but cannot divulge it.

I don't believe he was.

He is apparently very close to agreeing terms as Boro's new manager.
