Argentina quandry tonight

by PurpleTurtle » 14 Oct 2009 12:37

Do I wish for Uruguay to beat them and Ecuador to win, therefore dumping the Argies out, or for them to qualify and meet England in SA, with us dumping them out on the bigger stage?

I really want to see Maradona dumped on his fat cheating cokehead arse.

It would be typically Englaish to lose to them when it matters, so here's hoping they go out tonight - the kunts.

Uruguay are a good side so it's no guarantee that the Argies will even be in South Africa for us to beat.

In the past the Argies have always been strong defensively but currently they are a shambles. It's fill your boots time for both Forlan and Luis Suarez.

Who are Ecuador playing and who will the Argies most likely play if they finish in the play-off position?

Even if they lose they will go into the play offs and will face either Costa Rica or Honduras, most likely Honduras.

I may be wrong but I believe the whole 'will they / won't they qualify' is officially sponsored by Sky Sports as they are showing the game and want as many viewers as possible

Only if Ecuador fail to bit Chile who have already qualify. If Argentina lose and Ecuador win Argentina finish 6th and miss out on even a play-off spot.

Argentina will go through, draw tonight. Even if they lose ecuador have chile away and chile are too strong - already qualified.

Arengtina will get someone crap like new zealand in the play-offs should they lose. 32-0 win.

Whoops, I though Ecuador were 3 points behind and so also had to overturn a silly goal difference for Argentina to drop to 6th.

If they do, I think they should play a half football and a half of rugby. Y'know, for a laugh.

New Zealand have already played the first leg of their play off against Bahrain. 5th place in South America plays 3rd place in the other Americas group which is either Costa Rica or Honduras, Costa Rica are playing the U.S so most likely Honduras.

NZ bad example- someone horrendous though as there aren't enough quality teams to come up against. We'll be seeing them at the world cup.

4th place.

3rd qualifies automatically.

The playoffs in terms of confederations are decided when they do the draw.

Oceania vs Asian playoff
CONACAF vs CONMEBOL

Argentina will be in South Africa.

For the record though I think its ridiculous that 5 teams from South America get to qualify for every World Cup. Should be 3 plus a play off spot.

Anyone get the feeling this is currently skewed to ensure that however bad they actually ever get, Brazil and Argentina will always qualify?

Don't have a problem with 5 South American countries getting through, after all Brazil have won it many times,Argentina less so and Uruguay I believe won the first one.
How many African countries get to go bearing in mind no country from that area has ever won it?

Is it also ridiculous that England has 4 representatives at club level for the European Champions League?
