handbags_harris If you concede a late equaliser after missing so many guilt-edged chances you are not unlucky not to win. It is not unlucky to miss so many chances. IMO it is sheer ineptitude under the most pressurised situation a football player can find himself in. A couple of missed chances can possibly be put down to bad luck. An absolute hatful cannot.

Quite right.

I make it 16 points we have pissed away this season from a winning position. That is not bad luck, or mere coincidence. It is bad organisation, bad tactics, bad finishing and a total lack of character.

I presumed HRK was through the middle because of his pace and rodgers wanted two more orthadox forwards in a 4-4-2 than when Gylfi has played in a supporting role coming from deeper

Not sure what I think of the constant tinkering with the system, but its worked at times this season and it worked for him at Watford as well

Surely it's just bad finishing.

winchester_royal FWIW

Nigel Atkins Reading are an exceptionally good football side, who will cut teams to pieces this season.

You can play as exceptional as Barcelona and cut through teams like butter but it's useless if at the end of it you find yourself 21st in the table and not beating massively inferior teams along the way.

I would also point out that Sir Alex Ferguson said that Reading would get relegated on the basis that we had always given his teams a proper ding-dong battle. Even the best can get it wrong.

Funny how losing points in a game we deserved to win has gone from being 'unlucky' 2 years ago, to managerial ineptitude now.

Is the Dellor interview on the net anywhere? I need cheering up after yet another depressing afternoon.

You can't finish if you don't create, which we haven't necessarily done when we've gone ahead. Sheff Utd, West Brom, Peterborough - three games where we didn't create anything after we'd gone ahead.

Ok, have it your way and stick your head in the sand - Reading are blinking unlucky, the 16 points we have thrown away this season is just jolly bad luck, old chap.

The games we lost that we possibly deserved something from were Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton, and Liverpool. Every other defeat, from memory, was deserved. Go figure...

Oh my, Floyd, by no means am I saying Rodgers is perfect, but FFS, surely not even you can deny that today was not Rodgers' fault. He put out a team that battered Scunny, and should have scored. Normally Sig would have put at least 2 of his chances away, and we'd have gone home very happy.

I understand the upset on the board tonight. Today was exceptionally frustrating, but the performance was NOT just cause for dismissal, by any way shape or form.

Just think, we could be watching the tripe that Scunthorpe threw up week in week out.

Cheer up lads.

From a 2-0 winning position, we created nothing.

Absolutely. I don't disagree. It's just today it was poor finishing... and a lack of concentration at the back, which also seems to happen on a regular basis.

...but we did create something after going ahead - ie a second goal.

Unfortunately, it's a culmination of weeks and months of confusion and calamity that brings the sort of response you're reading tonight.

You seem to think we deserve to win every game. The fact is we didn't take our chances so we didn't deserve to win today.

But hitting the bar twice and being thwarted by several good saves by the opposing keeper is.

No I don't. For example we deserved to lose against QPR, WBA, Newcastle and Middlesborough.

But by your way of thinking you only ever deserve the score you get at the final whistle, and I quite simply do not buy into that way of thinking.
