Awkward one this, not the most likely choice of everybody, but, he does have a pretty good record at this level, experienced, and I am pretty sure we would be safe in this league.

Like I said not the popular choice, but a safe one and possibly a good one ??

I know i just saw this and not being funny but for what the Suns worth they're pretty good with their gossip and rumours which fills me with dread
Dowie would not know his arse from his elbow on coming in to re-organise the squad we have at present,he probably talks a good game plan at initial meetings and interviews but he comes across as a manager as one who has little charisma to turn players and seems to go missing when the shit hits the proverbial fan

Bookies dont seem to be as convinced -

Darren Ferguson 9/4
Brian McDermott 5/2
Glenn Hoddle 3
Alan Irvine 5
Gareth Southgate 6
Iain Dowie 14
Steve Coppell 16

I hope it's true; Dowie is my number one choice for the job. He'd be perfect right now as no-one is more likely to lift Reading into the top half of the table by the end of the season.

Top half? Would just be happy one place above relegation at the moment.

I would be happy with Dowie. Highly regarded in the inner circles of football but on more occassions than not caught up in politics of football. Great for him to repeat feat he did at Crystal Palace.

Please no - if he comes in we are guaranteed to be relegated.

His track record is sh**e. A serial failure as a manager.

yes it's a long time ago since he got Palace promoted. Since then he's not lasted anywhere long .. Coventry, Charlton (total disaster) , QPR & Newcastle. (May be the last two a little unfair as the Boardrooms were difficult but would he be SJM's cup of tea?)

I noted what you said at the time and was cheered by it. If it's Dowie, Reading will be climbing to safety very soon.

Frankly that is utter b*llocks! The man has had a string of high profile failures and his sides play hoof ball. The only people I'd like to see in charge of RFC less are Southgate and Bryan Robson.

Yes he has experience, but, is a past of falling out with chairman and players, and not quite making the grade what we need?

Also looks like the chap out the goonies...

He did do a great job at Palace, but look at the players he had compared to our current squad.

Short term motivator in the mould of Mad Dog. Maybe that is the answer.

He talks as much shite as BR though....

Beggars can't be choosers, and given that we have a squad that is performing below its true level ATM, Dowie could well prove to be the answer.

Anyway, regardless of who gets the job, we need to give the new manager all the support we can.
