Ian Royal He's not coming back this season. He was asked if he was because it's the most bloody obvious question to ask him.![]()

PieEater He did go back to Palace though?
I'm not sure I'd want him back, and he seemed to be a lot more chatty on TV and probably a lot happier with life than when he was a manager.

2.8 lita injection Coppell deserves a bigger club than Reading, he deserves a club with ambition and a transfer budget.

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe So what in his time at Reading makes people think Coppell can turn this round?
He went on 3 terrible runs as Reading manager and was utterly clueless as how to stop the rot.
We all want someone to come in a wave a magic wand and make this mess go away. It's not gonna happen though and it's certainly not gonna be SSC.

Coppell has the midas touch. If he returns it will all turn to gold.

I don't think he should comeback but out of the (realistic) names that have been linked with the club over recent weeks name three who could do a better job than Coppell.

He'd find it as difficult as anyone short term because we have a somewhat unbalanced squad. Long term he remains one of best (if not the best) managers at this level for many years. If you were going to rebuild a side on a budget then he has proven time and again that he is your man. He brings
- A solid pattern of play that he has used successfully for two decades.
- The knowledge as to exactly what type of player he needs within each piece of that pattern of play.
- The ability to spot them playing at a lower level, buy them cheaply and then integrate them.
The criticisms in the bad runs would be over loyal (Sonko especially) and limited Plan B when 4-4-2 comes up against a different system. However, his strengths far outweigh his weak points especially at Championship level at a club that needs a new team to be built
