I'm still far from convinced that he is the right man long term.

However, he's doing the business now and I take my hat off to him.

What would it take you to be convinced ?

A few wins against Premiership oppostion ?

Couple of back to back wins ?

I guess in reality the only thing that can convince anyone is history as no manager is a guaranteed success !

I think your second comment is spot on and should make your first one redundant !!

I'm impressed with what I've seen of his signings so far.

Fair enough.

Although I saw Coppell and Pardew's sides get some pretty major roastings too !!

The odd brain cell would come in useful. too.

Says he who starts a sentence without a capital letter and a random full stop.

So that's one typo versus the utter sh*te you've posted on this thread.

Agreed, well worth a bump.

FiNeRaIn How many points do we average under under BM compared to BR in the league?

1 point per game under BR.
1.14 points per game under BMc.

And 71.4% of BMcs's games have been away from home. I hope that some of the goons absolutely slating his appointment on this thread (and elsewhere) might come out and give the man some credit. I bet they won't though.

WNG > World Class Model.

1. Progress over the season. So far he's winning me over.

2. 2 actually. We drew at home, we won away to liverpool and beat burnley. Though the league form is far more important

3. The first win wasn't great but sometimes you've got to grind out wins. 2 wins and he's doing ok.

floyd__streete John Madj: "The team are well-organised under Brian"

Plymouth 4-1 Reading. That was a performance about as well organised as a small drinks party held in a brewery and hosted by the Chuckle Brothers.

Good luck Brian. You'll need it.

And while I am dishing it out on this thread perhaps I should take it too 8) . I didn't go to Sheff U, but having witnessed Barnsley at first hand and Donny on't telly I must say that the team look to have much better shape in recent weeks and in these crucial games against sides in and around us we are doing ourselves a favour by not looking like conceding much (of late). Panic stations a bit in the last ten minutes last night perhaps, but up until that edge of the area pot-shot for which a penalty was rightly awarded and a sending off (IMHO) harshly given, we had looked in total control of the game as far as I was concerned and I though Khizanishvilli looked reasonably solid in those final ten minutes in tricky circumstances.

Ian Royal If he can drop Cisse and play Howard so we have a combative, but also skillful central midfield, we can hold onto the ball better, and be more solid defensively, which will relieve a lot of pressure.

I'm teetering on the McDermott bandwagon. If he keeps playing midfield pairings that are easy to bypass and have zero creativity, then we're doomed. If he gets that right, we have a chance.

Good call IR.

Yeah, if we post enough we all get one right occasionally.

If pushed I could probably fine one of my own.

Probably on a cricket thread.

They'll simply point out that a 3-0 loss at home to Newcastle isn't good enough.

I use the word simply to descibe them and not the statement.

Just as long as everyone understands we're not world beaters and are capable of both good and bad performances.

BR average points per game in permanent charge - 1
BMcD average points per game in permanent charge - 3

Simples.

Actually, for all the SJM haters, this means we should have appointed BMcD permanently in December - we'd be only a point off the play-offs now.

If he does manage to perform a miracle and keep us up then he will fully deserve all of the praise he gets. Just so long as Madejski doesn't try to gate crash the celebrations! McDermott will have done it despite and not because of the activities of Madejski, Howe and Hammond, Cloth Cutters by Royal Appointment.

I'm remain convinced that we either need the existing Chairman and Board to re-commit to the club and team big time or a change of ownership to prevent us from constantly looking over our shoulders and to start moving back towards the PL.

I won't change my stance on SJM and his merry band of arsewipes!

What BMcD has done is got us looking like a team. OK I didn't see the Plymouth debacle. I reckon in hindsight that could prove to be the turning point of this season. Against Forest we were a shade unfortunate not to have come away with something even though we were battered in the first half. Against Sheff Utd we had chances. Things have certainly improved since he came on board. Only the most blinkered of BR ring kissers will suggest otherwise.

We've never needed a miracle though. Pompey need miracles, we just needed a slight improvement in results.

All concerned will deserve credit if we survive, as we should. Those who got us in the position we are now will need to thank their lucky stars if things are changed round.

But ST, you know as well as I do that a certain Chairman will try and milk everything for what it's worth.
