Championship games Tuesday 16th Feb...

by BonBoh » 16 Feb 2010 20:48

Well, it's half-time in the Championship.
The good news is that Sheff Wed are currently losing at home to Doncaster.

Unfortunately, Ipswich are winning away from home.

All the games seem pretty tight at the moment. A single goal in a few games may well change things massively in our favour.
Fingers crossed that the following score at least one goal (without conceding):
Barnsley
Swansea
Peterborough
Leicester
Preston

and Middlesborough (it'll put the dampeners on Blackpool for our forthcoming game...)

Come on URZ!

I've always liked Swansea as well!!

Scunny just scored...could do with a Barnsley goal now.

I think we are better with Blackpool winning a scrappy 1-0, with a couple of injuries and bookings etc! If they don't get 3 points tonight they'll be gunning for us more on Saturday

Darius sent off for Sheff U

Swansea doing their bit.

Barnsley must really hate us for beating them.
They rolled over against Plymouth at the weekend and now it seems they are going to do the same against Scunthorpe. Just to make sure that teams around us take maximum points. Sore losers, I say!

Blackpool seem a long way up, but they could yet get dragged into the fray. As an indicator, while they were 14 points ahead of us with the same games played in late January, by the end of Saturday they could be 3 points ahead of us with two more games played. Obviously that would entail them losing tonight and us beating Palace, but it shows how even a team in the top ten could still be in trouble. Their recent form is dire.

Doncaster 2-0 up at Sheff Wed now!
SW goal difference is now -13 and they are only 2 points ahead of us!

This is just as exciting as a Royals match just without the nervousness...

Apart from Scunthorpe good scores at the moment - QPR off though so if more rain tomorrow (and its forecast) we could be off as well - Selhurst Park has got a record of games called off through waterlogged pitches.

I am not going to be impressed if another game I've got tickets for is called off. That's Newcastle. Newcastle and if you're right Palace.

I have just been looking at Preston's form.
Under Ferguson they have not done well, at all.
If they lose tonight, they will have lost 6 of their last 9 matches. There is only 7 points between us and them, too.

There are a lot of teams struggling with any kind of form in this division. QPR and Preston spring to mind. Bristol City not doing too well, either. They have only won 1 in their last 10 games before tonight. 5 defeats and 4 draws in that time...

Now 18 shots on, 10 off and 5-2 Derby. What a pasting. Derby into the top half.

Now 5-2 down and attempts on target 18-3. I suspect Derby may be bossing it.
