Terminal Boardom Second visit for me to Stag Meadow lined up tomorrow. The anticipation of seeing Michael Meaker lining up for Mangotsfield Utd is too big a draw!

He must be about 104 by now. Has he still go no body hair?

:D

I do think people see the occasional non-League team fight well against professional opposition in the FA Cup and forget the enormous gulf in class and reading of the game there is between a pro who has played at Level 3 and 4 and a Level 8 player, which is where the ancient Meaker now plays.

He might not have been much cop as a 20-something for Reading but his natural ability is still streets ahead of where the totally admirable players of Windsor & Eton even aspire to be.

I suspect Keith Scott (who will undoubtedly have encountered Meaker in his pro playing days) will detail Andrew Fagan to sit on him for most of the game and snuff out his threat.

Once again, I strike lucky and witness a thoroughly enjoyanle game at Stag Meadow. Mangotsfield put in a vast amount of effort and I think deserved their equaliser based on the amount of effort they expended. That said, W&E had more than enough chances to have won this before half time.

Met up with Royal Rother which was a plus! Thanks for the updates from the Mad Stad!

I also urge as many of you as possible to get down to Stag Meadow if only to see Scotty the Stag!

And Meaks still has no body hair! And he did head for the corner flag at least once.

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon again

It was good to meet you too Sir!

Yep, an enjoyable game, and the 2 goals scored were worthy of the admission fee. Both cracking strikes.

The big plus on the day was that Totton lost again which suggests those wheels are coming off as predicted. Mr Budny will not be a happy man tonight which, perhaps oddly, gives me cause to chuckle a little.

Oh, and your crowd prediction was 5 out I think - not a bad effort / head count!

See you down there next time?

Here is a recent pic of Meaker - a minute from time I was hoping to post this with the comment "heaven knows he's miserable this evening". Un fortunately it wasn't to be, but a point is just fine.

Mid week games saw W&E remain unbeaten with a 1-1 draw at Frome, but Totton closed the gap with a 4-1 win against Gosport, during which there was a dramatic event with a young player nearly losing his life.

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/501211 ... _on_pitch/

A YOUNG Hampshire footballer is today recovering at home after he dramatically stopped breathing during a match.

Robbie Tambling collapsed while playing for Gosport Borough at AFC Totton's Testwood Park last night.

The 17-year-old - a relative of Chelsea legend Bobby Tambling - had been undergoing tests on his heart in recent weeks, but had been given the all clear to play.

Gosport chairman Mark Hook described how the promising striker's lips turned blue as he was receiving emergency treatment on the pitch towards the end of the game.

But the former Hayling College student regained consciousness and ambulance crews rushed him to hospital.

Mark said: "Robbie was immediately attended to by the club's physio team Paul Reay and Gary Boud and paramedics were called.

"He was taken to hospital by ambulance and by that time he was sitting up again but for a while we had lost his pulse and his lips had turned blue."

Robbie's mum Sarah this morning told the Daily Echo that the former Hayling College student was sleeping at their Portsmouth home after being discharged from hospital in the small hours last night.

She added: "They don't know what's wrong with him at the moment - he keeps getting chest pains and passing out. It's not something he has always suffered from."

So he's been having tests on his heart because he's been suffering from chest pains and passing out in recent weeks yet was given the all-clear to play? Holy shit - what the hell were they thinking?

Very straightforward 5-0 victory for W&E. Michael Chennells scored a hat-trick which saw him score his 100th goal for the club.

Cinderford weren't all that bad really but the finishing was clinical and their defence not great.

28 games unbeaten this season.

Is this as a direct result of Meaker asserting his options on image rights?

EDIT I've marked the numerous postponements in RED now - I'd expect there to be a few more 'late ones' :- :(

... and the 'local' NL sides in action tomorrow -

CONF-South
Dorchester Town v Woking
Maidenhead United v Chelmsford City
... and
Bromley v Weymouth
Newport County v Braintree Town
Staines Town v Eastleigh
Welling United v Bath City
... Basingstoke and the Beavers are w/o a game?

ISTHMIAN 1 South
Fleet Town v Dulwich Hamlet

SOUTH Premier
Farnborough v Truro City
Hednesford Town v Didcot Town
SOUTH Div 1 Midland
Barton Rovers v Slough Town
Beaconsfield SYCOB v AFC Sudbury
Burnham v Bedworth United
Bromsgrove Rovers v Marlow
SOUTH Div 1 S&W
Bedfont Green v Thatcham Town
Gosport Borough v Bracknell Town
Hungerford Town v Cirencester Town
Yate Town v Windsor & Eton
... and
Bridgwater Town v AFC Totton

COCOP
Ash United v Sandhurst Town
Camberley Town v Guildford City
Cove v Dorking
COCO1

Farnham Town v Knaphill
Frimley Green v Worcester Park
- away side are league leaders

HELLENIC Premier
Abingdon Town v Malmesbury Victoria
Bicester Town v Binfield
Marlow United v Ardley United
Reading Town v Witney United
Wantage Town v Shortwood United - the home side have scored 15 in their last three games!
Ascot Utd have a 'free' w/e

Div One East
Didcot Town Reserves v Rayners Lane
Eton Wick v Milton United
Finchampstead v South Kilburn
Henley Town v Kintbury Rangers
Thame Utd v Chalfont Wasps
Woodley Town v Holyport - Woodley could go level on points with leaders Wokkers who are involved (see below) in a Cup game - though Thame would leapfrog to 1st place with a win and Holyport themselves are only a point further back.

Berks/Bucks Intermediate Cup Q-F
Newbury v New Bradwell St Peter
Wokingham & Emmbrook v Faringdon
... anyone seriously thinking of these, might be advised to check KO times - according to the B&B FA site they KO @ 13:30 :?
Reading Senior Cup Q-F
Highmoor Ibis v Flackwell Heath

WESSEX One
AFC Aldermaston v Petersfield Town - AFC's hopes of a first point of the season in MW [H v Shaftesbury just above them and equally hopeless] were dashed by the weather.

Fleet Spurs v Verwood Town
Tadley Calleva v Hamble ASSC
