Barry the bird boggler LOL at anyone thinking this club will have any money to do anything remotely exciting in the summer transfer window.

I'd LOL at anyone who thinks they know either way.

We didn't spend in January (yet still made a couple of very good signings). We've since raked in well over a million in bonus cup money. We've also got a manager that I would suspect is trusted by the board.

Add in that we've got several youngsters who would probably make us a decent amount if we chose to sell.

I have no idea what sort of investment we'll make in the summer, but as things stand McD is putting himself in a very strong position to get some reasonable funds made available, although clearly I can;t see us competing with Man City for the really big names.

When it comes down to it though guessing cash amounts is fairly irrelevant. Our best ever team was put together for nothing and most of the current stars were cheap acquisitions. I don;t care if we spend nothing as long as the free transfers / loans we get do the job.

Although loans I would also imagine both Griff and The General are costing us a fair bob on wages and loan fees. So we didn't spend as little as some are saying in Jan.

I'm sure JM will back us in the transfer market come the summer. Like he always has.

Scott Murray - he has scored loads for brizzle and is better than BECKHAM!!!!

Shaun Goater - OMG he would be the gr8st striker in the league!!!!! WCBAP but f it.

Robbie Fowler - Standard IMO

This is why these threads are so gr8

Binfield Royal Can we apply for the following

K Doyle (Wolves)
S Hunt (Hull)
A Bikey (Burnley)
D Kitson (Stoke)
I Sonko (Stoke)
N Shorey (Fulham)
S Sidwell (Aston Villa)
J Harper (Sheff Utd)
M Hahnemman (Wolves)
A Griffin (Stoke) (Understand from Saints fan Murty is crocked and not likely to play next year )
G Little (Sheffield Utd)

I think this team could get promoted out of the Championship

apart from free transfers, doyle, harper, and sidwell all for less than we sold them for.

:? Remind me how much we got for him

Why do we need to invest, cant we just spend what we have rather than think of new money coming in, we should have nabbed Barnard from Southend tho.

Think will wait to see where we are at the end of the season before making any choices, much like the club really.

I think as much as we are talking about who we are going to bring in, we should more concentrate on who might leave on this rich vain of form;

scenario 1: we are on this run whereby even if we drop 10 points between now and the end of the season, 70 points may gain a playoff place, by this point we would be the team with the form behind us and possible favourites to go up through the playoffs

scenario 2: form is good but not good enough, we finish in the top half of the table but due to the form and cup run stars such as Feds, Mills, Siggy, Jobi, Kebe, long and Church will all be looked at by promoting teams (and Man City lol). will we not be back to stage one again like the beginning of this season??

thoughts??

No because we did what we did last summer so we wouldn't have to this summer.

think we should be looking at the promising players from the lower leagues, the players just coming off the back of a good season.

players like austin at swindon, le fondre at rotherham, and mcnamee at norwichor dagnall at rochdale.

I was just thinking that we need more attacking midfielders.

I would settle for being able to take this team into next season. Thats all I want. However, when you think you are being reasonable with how much you expect to invest each transfer window the club always lets us down. I fully expect all three loanees to go and us to bring in no replacements. Im not falling for the season ticket propaganda anymore so won't be investing my funds in one unless the club show's its prepared to invest also.

Somewhat agree... but isn't that just a negative cycle? you don't buy a ST so the club has less garenteed revenue, so they spend less, so less people buy ST etc etc.

Can perhaps understand fans frustrations at the selling of top talent over the last 2 seasons but remember the club has bought the likes of Armstrong, NHunt, Mills, McAnuff, Rasiak into the team, spent money on developing many of the young players that are now in the first team and also paid out money in loan fees/wages for the likes of Little, Kitson, Bertrand, Griffin, Kizi etc.

Not wanting to turn it into another 'wheres the money gone' thread :D but I've not been too dissapointed by the additions to the squad. It's just been a shame we haven't turned up jems on the cheap in the mould of Sonko, Ivar, Doyle, Kitson, Marcus, Shorey, Sidwell, Harper etc.

That 106 team didn't cost very much to assemble and I guess I can see the logic in trying such a strategy again, difference being it seems we are trying to do that with our own academy rather then buying kids from Arsenal or lower league talent.

Really? I was expecting us to spend one or two million this season and we committed nearly four.

By the time we got promoted Kitson was up to about £350k and I think there were extras on Doyle & Shorey too, maybe Ivar. Sidwell was rumoured somewhere around £600k wasn't he?

Again no idea Ian you're probably right, still considering how much it achieved compared to what it cost I'd say Pardew, Coppell and the scouting team deserve massive credit.

Not good enough when you sell half your squad and your net profit is extraordinary, but thats a debate for another day.
