I still don't think we openly lie in the press.

That means no strikers.

Reading chief Executive Nigel Howe said: "Leroy Lita is a very good prospect and clubs are looking at him but we have not made a bid for him."

Interestingly the quotes from Hammond and McDermott (assuming they are accurate) do not entirely rule out bringing in a new striker....although they lead you to draw that conclusion

I actually thought this was a recent thread. Until you mentioned this.

Freaky!

I dont know anything about old mate Nick, but his games to goal ratio is not the best (For Lille that is with 9 in 75. Not bad for on loan Lige 2 side RC Strasbourg though, with 10 goals in 19 games).

Snowball will not like these figures. Slong is better.

Must remember to check the dates....

Tbf that's still better than Gunnar Thorvaldsson and that didn't stop us bringing him to these shores

Well I'd like to think we have learned a lesson from the Thorvaldsson debacle, and that we would avoid any repetition.

Wasn't Thorvaldsson due to injury? Can the same be said for this other guy?

Not that I know why I'm bothering to comment like it's a serious rumour...

the throvaldsson debacle where we took a bloke cheaply on loan while our strikers struggled, he didnt fit in so we sent him back, and in the mean time our strikers started scoring.

what a oxf*rd debacle

My version of events is that we took an injury prone striker into our squad and paid his wages for the remainder of the season and got absolutely no return for it whatsoever. I don't think we can link the arrival of Thor with the sudden transformation of Jimmy Kebe or the coming of age of the Sig, nor of Churchy learning where the goal is - all entirely unrelated events. Thor gave us nothing and cost us money.

at the time we needed A: a striker who could play, or B: a striker who could shake up our other forwards and get them playing.
his wages from rubbish swedish club or wherever he was from would have been a drop in the ocean, and wasd a cheap gamble that could have come off, but didnt

OK, delete "debacle" and insert "fiasco", or other suitably negative word of your choice to indicate a failed and costly loan signing. (I'm pretty sure his wages would be a lot better than mine, so that makes him "costly" in my world).
