Hull put Entire Squad up for Sale

If this is true, who could we realistically sign? They reportedly owe us £2.75m for Hunt so that could free up some cash to bring in Zurab and Griffin once he is sold.

Well, that would allow us to get Zurab and Griffin, then the rest should be saved on that £4 million we need to save.

Why would that free up some cash? Surely what's owed to us is factored into the decision about the size of our notional transfer budget already - getting it sooner doesn't mean we have more to spend.

Makes you wonder how much we are still owed from the players we've sold in the past two years.

Is that to say they only gave us £750,000 upfront because his fee was £3.5million with no add ons by all accounts at the time.

That's the norm these days I think. Very few transfers are paid outright, you only have to read the rumours on how much clubs like Pompey owe on previous transfers.

If Hull can't pay what they (possibly) owe us for Hunt does that mean we get him back ?

Surprised anyone is surprised by the fact that transfer fees are not paid in cash up front. They are usually paid over the term of the player's initial contract aren't they ? Most deals are effectively HP. Leads to a potential domino effect if a club defaults as the selling club usually spends the instalments in advance....
