TBM
Kitson12
specialjon If we can sell him and get a center back or striker on loan with the cash then i'd be happy with that.

I wouldn't. Antonio looks like a very good player, so if he were to go I'd be very miffed.

Apart from his long throw and a twisting run that ended in him losing the ball, which part of him looked "very good" on Saturday?!

That was pretty much the only things he had time to do, no?

tbf he had 20 mins and the whole point of a sub is to change the game........something he failed to do.

not saying its his fault but he came on, got the ball and immediately lost it to the defender......he would have been better playing up top, than on the wing.

would that be the last twenty minutes when our game was effectively up with 9 fit players...

Antonio is still in the raw stage of development in championship terms but its clear to see that he has much more to offer than Henry ever did. No doubt there will be chances for him to shine this season, and with Jobi coming off injured perhaps we will soon see how he copes in the deep end. Its obvious that Antonio is being primed to take a role on the wing should our regular two wingers move on or get injured, and i would be suprised if he didnt recognise this to pursue football in a division below.

According to the crap football-rumours.co.uk site

Reading have accepted an offer of £700,000 (including bonuses) from Southampton for Winger Michail Antonio.

Although I would be upset - that is great money, and may allow us get the Center Half we so desperately need. But I doubt the money will be made available.

Another moot point - that website is utter rubbish.

Star in the making for me, and has to stay.

Get Rasiak off the books for one if you want to save money, and add Cummings to that list. Antonio must stay.

Long is the one we want rid of, at least Rasiak's capable of scoring goals.

as is long- he did in spells last year.

i get that antonio has potential, and alot of pace/strength
but i just dont get the creaming yourselves over the lad just yet- from what ive seen in reserves and the other day- he just looks a big lump who can run fast.
to get 0.7 million quid for him at this point would be very hard for us to pass up, regardless of how good he may possibly become

Agree with that. To describe an up and coming young footballer as quick and strong doesnt say much for his FOOTBALLING ability of which he will rely on more as he gets older. 700k plus bonuses I would take that provided we got another winger in.
As for Long he had one spell against teams in the bottom tier of the championship. Apart from that all he did was get injured, sent off and generally play shite. He's 24 and had more than enough time to reach his potential. With his contract up at the end of the season I say get rid NOW!!!

But Rasiak got less pitch time and at least gives us a completely different option up front.

Long is the one we want rid of because he was signed by Coppell, at least Rasiak was brought in by Rodgers..

I think that it goes to show how much of a problem that we have in the striker department. We have been fortunate over recent years to have had the likes of Quinn, Butler, Cureton, Forster, Kitson and Doyle. What is our choice these days? Rasiak who makes Pearce look mobile, Long who really does seem to have little idea, Church who may come good but needs to hav a partner up front, a pletora of youngsters who run around a lot and Mooney.

Sadly, we can all see the problems the starting 11 has. We are in dire need of a prolific goalscorer and an experienced, mobile central defender. Get the spine right and we will be ok.

As for Antonio, take the money. Good bit of business but don't expect to see anything out of the fee reinvested in the squad.
