Mr Angry This sort of rubbish always gets spouted; I seem to recall that not that long ago there was a huge (internet forum) based demand that Marcus was slow, terrible at crosses, poor distribution etc etc etc and should be replaced by.................Federici.
Marcus who is Wolves' #1 keeper, you know, Wolves, of the Premiership?

Thank the Lord that the lunatics aren't running the asylum.

andrew1957 I know most posts on here are nothing more than hot air, but this thread is one of the most ridiculous ones and that really is quite an achievement.
FACT - Federici has done a good job and come from nowhere to establish himself as our number 1.
FACT - RFC have a huge problem. Fed is a good keeper

Royals-lad14 atm i'd say just to stick with Federici. Because maybe at some point this season Federici could be out for a few weeks then someone like Hamer has the chance to step in and show what he has to offer. It happened when Marcus picked up a calf injury against Blackpool two seasons ago and Marcus from then on could not get back into the team, maybe we could see a repeat of this?

Hoop Blahspecialjon Can you explain to me why you rate your own opinion on Federici much higher than Steve coppell, sal bibbo, Mc D, Holger Osieck and many more football coaches?
They all rate him highly and have picked him for matches and rate him higher than all the other keepers we have on our books. No offence or anything but I'll go Mc d's opinion alone never mind the rest of the people I mentioned over yours.
I think potentially some of the keepers on our books could progress to be better than Feds but at the moment he is our number 1 and I'll support him.
Bibbo - doesn't actually pick the team, he just coaches them and I'd have no idea how he rates the keepers we have.
Coppell - took Federici on as cheap cover for Hahnemann. He wasn't convinced at first and wouldn't offer him a contract until we were desperate. After having him at the club for sometime I think he felt he had to give him his chance. Interestingly though he opted for Hahnemann pretty much everytime he could. He probably couldn't/wouldn't afford to keep replace him.
McDermott - Hasn't had a chance to replace him. With the wealth of talent coming up behind Federici he'd probably be hard pressed to waste funds on another keeper without being able to get rid of him.
Holger Osieck - Has he actually picked an Australia squad yet? You do realise he's only been named as manager since their last game? Who else do they have at their disposal, apart from the 2 keepers obviously ahead of him in the pecking order?
I've no idea who the many more coaches are....
Personally I think Federici is a competant keeper at this level, but he's no where near as good as he appears to think he is and makes too many basic mistakes (which don't seem to be getting fewer) to be a top keeper at this level.
To call him an 'International Keeper' is also stretching the imagination a bit. Was Micheal Ricketts ever an international centre forward?

The Goat was fed There is limited evidence to suggest that Hamer would be a success, one season at Brentford is not enough, as I said earlier Keepers mature later. In my opinion, it would be premature to throw him in the deep end - especially as Alex MacCarthy and Mikkel Andersson are the next in line.

I doubt many will want to buy him now for the reasons you've stated above.NR_Royal He's slow, makes too many crucial mistakes, he's beaten at his near post time and time again and he doesn't inspire much confidence in the team and the fans. Sure he pulls off the odd great save but so do most keepers. We have 3 supposedly excellent keepers at our disposal in Hamer, Andersen and McCarthy and I really think we'd be better of if we sell Federici for around £2 million if anyone wants him in order to fund a centre-back and his wages.
This makes sense, doesn't it?
