33 years old today (?), 62 caps for ROI, last one in 2007.

Was what Radio Berks said. That's all, no mention of the deal itself.

64 caps

In what capacity did they refer to him?? I know local radio is depressingly dull, particularly on the BBC but to do a clip on "who's birthday is it today" :|

Add some pace to the back line.

I guess if you can't get anything else experience is a good asset to have.

Well he's a good left back, he can play centre back if required and I believe he's not unaccustomed to a role as a striker as well! Perhaps he could also have a role on the coaching staff at some point as well. In addition doesn't he have a smart record as a penalty taker?

They said "Reading are reported to be on the verge of signing Carlisle United full-back Ian Harte. He scored blah blah goals last season, it's his bday today, and he's got blah blah caps for ROI"

I'm typing from memory here hence the innaccurate numbers. What I meant was that they didn't give any specific details of the deal, just that he's coming.

Not that it means much after the Gylfi saga but lets kill this rumour here and now....

Only last week on BBC site...

Carlisle United defender Ian Harte and striker Gary Madine have signed extended deals with the club.

Harte, 33, was last season's top scorer with 21 goals and has signed until the summer of 2012.

They only get them to sign extensions so it bumps their price up should anyone be interested.

That doesn't kill the rumour in any way, shape, or form.
