Sky Sports News sources understand Aldershot have sacked manager Kevin Dillon following the club's poor run of form.

Aldershot's 2-1 defeat by Oxford United on Saturday was a fourth successive home loss in League Two and Dillon has now paid the price.

The club had started the season with expectations of a play-off push after finishing sixth last term, but have dropped to 20th in the table after two wins in 10 games.

The Shots were also knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league Dover Athletic and have opted to bring in a new manager.

Dillon took charge at the Recreation Ground in November 2009 after Gary Waddock left for the manager's job at Wycombe Wanderers.

He admitted after the weekend defeat by Oxford that the pressure was increasing, but questioned the wisdom of him being sacked.

Aldershot have now opted to relieve Dillon of his duties and will begin the search for a long-term replacement.

frimmers3 taxi for dillon..thank god.

Why? Took Aldershot to play-offs last season. Sixth from bottom of what used to be called Division 4 is about your level given your miniscule crowds.

floyd does have a slight point, Aldershot have punched above their weight in the league for the last couple of seasons, just like torquay have done so far this season, although we are drifitng to our rightful place of about 15th.

Dillon was never really took to, could definitely sense that last year when Aldershot were about 5th and we wnet there and won at a canter. All was not well.

So floyd was right really then? That it was more against the norm for the 'Shots' to be nearer the top of the league than the bottom.

So Dillon was more ticking the club along at it's normal level. Raised expectations from a year or two punching above their weight.

Well you are going to start the Aldershot has no relevance to Aldershot Town stuff, so i'd rather not bother too much to be honest.

Always disappointed when you explain yourself, frimmers. I get a perverse kick out of being the only person on this board who understands you in your native tongue.
