Has to be the first time I've agreed with anything you've said on this forum.

It is over, but the manager wont accept that for at least another 4-5 games.

Then I want to see some of the kids get a game.

Jordan Obita, a promising attacking player,
Bell-Baggie, as above, if he isn't out on loan?
Jake Taylor,
Jacob Walcott - when does he return from loan? They're raving about him at Telstar. His pace would be a real bonus in this team.
B.Williams, especially with Manset injured.

Brilliant idea imho, especially as most have rested on the fact that we'll be losing Federici, Long and some others in the summer, so why not? We've got nothing to lose and we're not gaining anything regarding a playoff push.

The time to throw in the sprogs will be once we get past 50 points which is generally regarded as the safety target.

I thought that Davies looked a tidy player.

Jordan Obita - Too early needs experience in the lower leagues. but def one to watch.
Bell Baggie- went on loan to crawley earlier in the season couldn't break into the team and then got injured. (reminds me of Illugason when he was on loan at eastbourne)
Jake Taylor - definitely should be given a run in the team.
Jacob Walcott - doing well abroad but it would be stupid to call him back for subs when he's playing every week.
B.Williams - no harm in giving him a run.
Jack Mills - Not even starting for telstar
James Rowe - I think he's injured... not sure though.
Lawson D'Ath - Best player this season for the Academy but again needs league experience before having all that pressure on him in our first team.

43 points, and you think we're safe? Absolutely the incorrect thing to do. Until it is mathematically impossible to reach the playoffs or, indeed, be relegated, the last thing I want to see is my team's manager throw in the towel and play youngsters. It's the middle of February ffs :|

Ideal I think we can all agree this season is effectively over. We've got enough points to be safe, and are out of touch with the playoffs.
Why not bring on as many young players as possible, to let them gain experience ahead of next season?
Let Manset start every match.. drop Harte, might as well let Williams play. He can't do much worse anyway.
Why persist with Brian Howard? What's the point? It's not like he will suddenly improve and turn into Zidane, it's all going to be pretty much downhill for him.
Why persist with playing these over the hill has-beens, when we can bring on the youth and let them get some experience.
Too bad Davies is on loan to Bristol R..

I was thinking of posting a similar article but until we get knocked out of the cup we have to persist with the current players.

However, assuming we get knocked out I think blooding the younger players over the remaining games is a good idea. After all the likelihood is that they will be the first team next season so we need them to get game time now or they will not be up to speed next season when we have sold Fed, Kebe. McAnuff, Long, Mills etc.

Fair point but it would take a really bad run/great form from those at the bottom for that to happen.

We've pretty much played youngsters all season which shows how small our squad is.

Well, we are not on much of a run at the moment  Get to 50 points then see what happens.

Although I agree with the sentiment, there is no way Mcdermott will do this as he could get sacked if we don't win another game. Like all managers he will look to win every game.

Let's get one thing right Scott Davies is never Championship standard!!

We will improve when Karacan is back and Kish is brought in

I cannot understand why we bothered to get Khish on loan again but haven't played him or brought him on as a sub even. :|

I agree. He was a cut above what we had here last season, I don't understand why he isn't getting a sniff. Mills has never convinced me and has a short attention span, not to mention temper. Pearce has played very well this season and won a lot of people over and for me should pair with Kish at the back. But what do we know?

Don't get me wrong, I do like Mills, but I seem to remember that it was a Mills/Khish partnership that proved to be pretty good earlier on. I think Khish, with his experience, would have a calming influence on Mills and Mills could learn a lot from playing with him.

I've got a feeling this summer could be a real turning point for the club. Yes I agree in giving the youth a chance where possible, but break them in carefully and not gung ho.

My main concern is what happens in the summer, as mentioned we are probably going to lose Feds, Jobi and Shane. We may not be able to keep Legs. Ingi is getting more injury prone, Gunnarson will be very much a bit part player. Harte and Griffin seem to be losing the pace by the week to play at this level and the way I see it is that Church has 14 games left to show he can be a championship player. That leaves a rather large hole to fill! :|

Anyone got any recommendations as to who we can bring in?

I'll start with Matt Tubbs from Crawley, hard working and holds the ball up well from what I saw tonight.

Good plan. On my travels I did see a promising young Ukrainian player, name Viktor Leonenko. Could be the answer to our striking problems.

Great, that's 2 strikers already.

We'll soon get next seasons team together!

How times have changed!

A few years ago, we had such a paucity of young players with potential that we would have been unable to have a discussion. Thankfully we now have an enviable Academy setup which has a supply of decent players.

The future is bright; the future is blue and white hoops!
