NoWimb Obviously Sir Steve is going to be a big favourite given what happened between 2005-2007 but with hindsight, should the end of 2003/04, 2004/05, relegation in 2007/08 and failure to win promotion in 2008/09 be held against him?

Royal Rother Doesn't mean it's a vote for Best Ever Manager particularly as that has to go to Coppell, but I enjoyed myself watching games under McGhee more than at any other time. I was gobsmacked at the style of football we played as it was such a contrast from much of what had come in the preceding years. Couldn't believe I was standing on the South Bank with goose pimples just applauding passing movements I had never expected to see down there. Great stuff and of course that was continued under Jim and Mick for a while.

Wimb I do agree that Coppell is the winner, but looking back on his reign and with some distance between it, you begin to feel that perhaps his failures are starting to swallow up his success.
It's certainly possible to argue that had Pardew stayed we'd have made the Premier League and in large part it was Coppell's over faith in his players that cost us our top flight status and missing out on promotion the following season. Throw in a mediocre end to 03/04 and the capitulation in 04/05 and it's not looking as clear cut....

Agreed, despite the slaggin' he got....and his daughter rightly so for our team badge.......I have only good memories of "Brian Infoots Blue and White Army" tenureJackson Corner Given the budget he had and the state of the club you can make a case for Ian Branfoot. Yes it was hoof ball but effective all the same. Two promotions one league title and our only Wembley triumph. Is as good as anyone?

Ian Royal Coppell, blatantly obvious. But honourable mentions to Pardew, McGhee and I'm sure a few others before my time. Dishonourable mentions to Burns, Bullivant and Rodgers who all did poor jobs and a big fat meh to Jim and Mick who were fairly mediocre. McDermott looking like falling short of being in Pardew / McGhee's class but well above Jim & Mick's quality.
