I must admit as SF says - I thought the demand, given:

- Manchester
- On TV
- Late Sunday

would be 2800-3000 max...

I had to try for 45 mins at midnight last night and it was a shambles from the whole midnight/site capability perspective - but I wouldn't blame the club too much for only getting 2800 tickets...

Someone with some sense.....it's rarity on these forums.

What baffles me is why the club didn't state from the start that the 2800 was an initial request. Were RFC obliged to say straight away that the 2800 was definitive?

they have to draw the line somewhere and as such someone will always just miss out, and with the short notice/confusion due to the late nature of the draw bering finalised etc and wanting the biggest chance of sellinbg them all as quick as possible meant that the large drop between 1600 and 600 was necessary.

as for its on TV being a shit excuse. i think the evidence is conclusive that in general TV games are less well attended.

They have to pay for the tickets they didn't use, which would be a pittance compared to the wad they're blowing on free travel. We're looking at a club that has gained £20m-odd in net player sales over the last few years, and doesn't feel a responsibility to risk paying for unused tickets to ensure that everyone who wants to can see the team at an FA cup quarter-final.

As for TV, are there non-televised FA Cup quarter-finals that you can compare it to? Obviously not.

why have they taken 20 million in player sales? for jollys? no, because we didnt have enough money to run as we were.
hence why they are a little reticent to buty a load of tickets and end up not selling them.and lol at the ease with which everyone seems to be able to gamble with other peoples money.


you can still go and watch the game, youll just have to sit with the city fans- who im sure will be more than welcoming to fans of such a little team.


the choice was - pay for a load of tickets that we didnt know wed sell to a load of day tripping randoms, or pay for coach travel and guarantee we sell what allocation we did get.
seems sensible to me.

man city then started selling the tickets in the surrounding bits of the ground, meaning we had to take the initial off our statements

Plus, if they'd asked for more tickets, they didn't need to offer free travel really - so that would have cancelled each other out.

Are fans who are buying tickets in the home end planning to pay on the day? Won't it be rather conspicuous if a load of people with RG postcodes apply online for home end tickets?

Sounds a bit harsh at first and I'm sure we could all pick holes in it but in essence is fairly true, and a welcome along from the City fans.

It's a cup game and the 'hardcore' reading fans will already have tickets via their official allocation. The rest will be townsfolk keen to experience a once in a lifetime QF at a top PL ground, they'll bring their kids and their grannies and be looking for a happy day out so no harm in them joining with like minded City fans in the family orientated areas.
I say bring it on and all welcome for a fantastic game of football!

It's a simple and sensible solution to an issue that shouldn't take too much thinking about.

Anyone not happy with that simple solution should invent a time machine and go back to the 1970's

but i fully accept, that when i dont go to enough games to get enough points to go to these big matches, its kind of my fault, not the clubs.

if theres a day trip on, ill be there, if its a cold tuesday night in sheffield im generally not interested. so im happy that the people who got to go, are better, less plastic and random than me, and therefore deserve to go more than i do.

do i blame the club for me not going?

but i fully accept, that when i dont go to enough games to get enough points to go to these big matches, its kind of my fault, not the clubs.

if theres a day trip on, ill be there, if its a cold tuesday night in sheffield im generally not interested. so im happy that the people who got to go, are better, less plastic and random than me, and therefore deserve to go more than i do.
do i wish wed got more tickets, do i wish id got one. yes yes.

I accept that people with more points should get in above me as well. but I do blame the club for not anticipating the demand

loads of people were already on here before the free transport saying with the late kickoff on a sunday and expensive trains they couldnt be arsed. id say it would have been touch and go without it.
the whole point is we are skint. im glad you arent so that gambling 20K seems like a good idea, but this isnt your money.
and the whole idea of making the money is so we can spend something in the summer i guess. so personally im happy that we keep it for that.

You’re too accepting of people's mistakes then IMO Brendy. The point is, the 'proper' fans and those that don't go to midweek away games in Yorkshire should have been able to attend this match.

Request the whole of the end, then start selling them for the left hand side or the 2,800 ticket side. If that sells out then sell the rest if not maybe City would have bought them back or so what we'd have had to pay a few thousand for the surplus. The prize money alone more then covers the cost of the
'unsold' tickets.

£20k is a lot of money Brenders but the club is run for it's fans, if you can't spend £20k on keeping thousands of fans happy then what's the point?

I'm perhaps bias as I've missed out on a ticket but it's the madness of this being so so avoidable that's got my blood boiling.

I'll probably go up and sit in the city end, anyone got any idea where the best areas to sit without hassle will be?

Like I said - the only way you can really show your annoyance is by not renewing your season tickets or for those non STH's to not attend games for the rest of season. But as I said, you won't. You'll just moan about it on BBRB and that will be that. Hit the club where it hurts, then maybe they'll appreciate the fans more, by clearer communication over tickets.

the North Stand will be best although the City fans are expecting tier 3 opening this week so if that happens there will be more than enough to go round
