philM Did anyone else spot the message on RFC F'book to JFordham I think, on the day that they announced the 2800, saying that the 2800 was an initial allocation and there would be more if the interest was there?

After the free travel "to all" cockup the next morning the original message was deleted by RFC.

its clearly what BmcD also thought when he spoke post game on saturday

Bendy you great buffoon - how is "I totally agree" hyperbole?

FWIW it would explain quite clearly WHY we didn't bother to ask for any more tickets. They decided to offer free travel AFTER they'd asked for 2,800 tickets. It's all documented - it's not hyperbole in any case. They didn't think they would sell even those 2,800 and the free travel idea was thought up as a way of persuading people to buy tickets.

And I think it's perfectly legitimate that they DIDN'T ask for any more tickets - why would they if they thought we may not sell 2,800 - they've said themselves how they arrived at that figure.

Para Handy How is point two defensible when they should have known from Wednesday morning that they wouldn't get more tickets?

shoulda woulda coulda.
im not sure what the time lines actually were, and im pretty sure you arent either.
im not even saying its right, im not saying i dont agree that more tickets should have been sourced initially
im just saying it is actually defensible.

I don't know why you're going on about more tickets being sourced initially. Point 2 that Schards made was:

Making the second sale band 600-1600

Actually, I'm pretty sure I know what the time lines were. City started selling seats adjacent to the away support on Wednesday morning. The Reading Official site confirms this. If they didn't know by this point that there weren't going to be more tickets available then that seems remarkably negligent to me. If they did know then they should have adjusted the banding accordingly. Why did they wait until Monday to start selling tickets.

except ive heard people from the club say when they went back to ask for more they were told that the blocks had already been opened up for sale.

i never said we shouldnt have checked, i never said anything of the sort- im simply saying that being that we thought we would be able to, it was important to get shot of those tickets quickly, and banding them further would have interfered with that.

brendywendy now i understand peoples frustrations, (though i dont really understand teh frustrations of those who got their tickets tbf)and i understand that its clear now we should have asked for more tickets here, and that many loyal fans will miss out-though not if its actually very important to them cos theyd just go and sit in the home end

but the above three statements are all pretty much made up personal hyperbole.
you dont know any of that, and until you do, its a bit daft getting all riled up about it.

Brendy i think the people who were most worried were those who were so desperate that they managed to get tickets. I'm still annoyed about having to stay up till after midnight and fight online for them on a Monday night.

Also going to watch such a crucial game and not being able to cheer on your side is a massive turn off. Its not all about the football - you can get a much better view on ESPN than you can from citys lower tier by the way! Its about the songs and tribalism and being proud to represent your little club against a club that typify all thats wrong with football. (Not their fans though who surely deserve the billions but the lieks of Ballotelli etc). If you sit in the home end you miss out on a lot.

Despite being assured of a ticket, I'm frustrated because plenty of others couldn't get a ticket - I'm frustrated at the way the club handled things - whether it was all down to them or not. Why shouldn't fans look out for their fellow-fans? Why should everyone adopt an I'm alright Jack attitude to the detriment of other equally loyal fans? If the likes of us don't stick up for others over what's happened, it will happen again. And again. This amount of discussion will get through to the club eventually and they'll defo take it on board to prevent it happening again. We hope.

You've lost me. Yes, they should have known that on Wednesday right? If it was so important to get rid of the tickets quickly as you say... what stopped them selling the tickets from say Thursday? They already knew Monday night that they were in the next round. Did it take them a week to think of the free travel offer? I don't know the answer to that.

RL you lovely person who i love like my own mother
you were agreeing with someones mindless and made up speculation then, is that any better?

agree if true it would explain it, but again the pure opinion and speculation at the end is dressing the made up as fact again.

i heard someone on the radio yesterday saying they went back and asked if there would be more available and were told no
and you have no idea why the free travel was proposed.

if its true- you are correct, its worth moaning about but to kick off on the basis of some made up shizzle is silly.though of course its your perogative to continue to kick off of course.

im just saying if it meant as much as it seems to, youd just go up anyway.regardless of how much of the atmosphere youd miss out on.
but i repeat i had no problem shouting for reading at old trafford in the home end.

i can only hope so too RL, and i thank you personally for your continued dedication and care for other fans.
my only point is that i hear far less venom and anger coming from people who couldnt get tickets, on here, and on BBCRB- that strikes me as strange. 's all

Probably because the majority appear to have got tickets in the Home ends. If it all kicks off on Sunday, be prepared for much more moaning!

no you dont know, thats my point.
you cant sell tickets to an away game on monday, when you dont know who your oponents would be.
what i assume stopped them selling on thursday was they were waiting for the tickets to be in the ticket office to give top the people handing over their money- why that decision was made, or by whom is again just speculation.
admittedly a fulsome statement from the club may have reduced the ammount of speculation about. ill happily criticise the club on that.

now youve called me an idiot to add to the buffoon from earlier, and all ive done is continue to show my love and respect for you.
im quietly dieing inside as a result.

i agree with loads of what you say, its just where you start kicking off and stating made up stuff as fact, that i feel compelled to urge restraint, common sense, and rational thought.
these made up things could turn out to actually be the fact, but until we find that out i just think its a little harsh, and a little pointless to go on about them.

Niko Did anyone actually miss out on buying tickets (even for the home end) that wants some? As i said earlier, My Student Union is selling them for £10.50 each. Me and a mate are buying a couple, and I don't mind buying some for others if they want some and can meet up on Sunday. PM or reply to this post if interested.

erm yes please.

how many?

what made up things?

The club said they thought we'd only sell 2,800 - the free travel was decided AFTER asking for that amount if tickets. It seems pretty clear to me that they decided that in order to try and ensure all 2,800 got taken!

They said they based 2,800 on previous away support. Therefore, it is pretty obvious that they wouldn't be thinking of asking for more tickets. :|

Sigh. Point me to where I've said that they could start selling tickets on Monday. I'm pointing out that the club knew that they were in the next round either at City or Villa on Monday.

City were selling tickets by Wednesday. If RFC really needed to have the tickets available in the ticket office before they could start selling them then, as mentioned previously, they could surely have got them couriered down. What about all the other days that were available to them. Friday, Saturday and Sunday to spell it out for you.

I'm guessing we are going to have to disagree on the points banding especially as you seem to keep losing sight of that particular point.

As for the Boo club BOOO comment. That's laughable. I've been following the club for a lot of years and will hopefully continue to do so. Doesn't stop me criticising something that I think is wrong.

seems pretty clear aint FACT
's all im saying.
so before people are encouraged to lynch the clubs media bloke, or the ticket office supervisor, maybe we should just wait to hear the actual FACTSSSSSSSSSSSS of what happened, rather than what you assume happened.

i am simply urging for some balance here
