Back from the game - Coventry (A)

by SLAMMED » 30 Apr 2011 17:26

In the car on the motorway.

Poor game from both sides. Bot sure why Federici started but he had a good game. Once again I think we really missed kebe. Ref was shocking on the 2nd half.

They should have won 3 or 4 nil. We were absolutely terrible. It was pretty much the exact same performance against Leeds. We failed to win the ball in midfield, no one was marking anyone, we didn't create anything. Whatever we had during our winning streak, we've sure as oxf*rd lost it now.

Feds 8 - Kept a clean sheet somehow. Pulled off some great saves.
Griffin 5 - Anonymous
Mills 4 - HOOOOOOOF.
Zurab 5 - Meh.
Harte 4 - Beaten for pace, offered little.
Antonio 3 - Absolutely woeful. Poor decision making and technique. Shame.
Karacan 4 - Failed to win the ball time and time again. Rare poor performance.
Leigertwood 5 - Started terrible, giving the ball away constantly, got better but still awful.
McAnuff 4 - Did absolutely nothing. Nothing.
Hunt 3 - Really poor.
Long 5 - Points for effort. Didn't do much else.

Howard 6 - Actually added something and looked energetic.
HRK 5 - Looked decent, but not great.

Also did anyone else spot Karacan and Mills nearly kicking off with each other, squaring up and everything????

Back to the Reading pre 8 game winning streak. God knows what team will turn up for the play-offs.

Mills is a pollock. Made a load of mistakes today and repeatedly beaten by the not so speedy Marlon King. I hope he's one of the summer sales. I never feel at ease with him in the defence, especially with these two big games coming up.

The best part of all that was when the players came out at the start-cue a mass of inflatables in the air. Said crocodiles, beach balls and Mr Blobbys were then thrown down towards the pitch with the stewards collecting them with smiles on their faces. Good to see.
As for the game. Job done. Point gained. However we didn't get out of first gear. Feds clearly our MoTM but he didn't have much competition. We lacked energy, conviction and creativity. Quite why Noel Hunt remains in the side is a mystery. He offers so little. Apart from one decent header on he was anonymous and barely made any attempt to close down the opposition.
Antonio struggled and boy we must hope Kebe is fit for the play-offs. Assuming he is then I would bring Howard in for Hunt and play 5 across midfield. Its also time to play Pearce ahead of Mills. We are living off borrowed time at the back and one of these days a decent side will make us pay.
It said much about the game when the home fans started doing the Mexican Wave in the second-half.
Despite the above we have made the play-offs and reached the FA Cup quarter-finals. Its one of our best ever seasons.
Lets hope the players can raise their game and make it a special season. They do need to improve massively to achieve it though.

You might be right but somehow it just ain't right reaching conclusions based on radio commentary.

Radio commentary and the views of friends at the game. They can't all be wrong, and it's not like it's a rarity from Mills.

Been to Coventry twice now and seen two 0-0 bore draws. Never going again!

And my feet ache.

Plus it cost £10 to bloody park in the big car-park opposite thre ground. The stadium wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Lol at the "We're in the right side of the stand " followed by "We're in the left side of the stand" chants today. Bet that hasn't been sung much this season.

Poor game, nobody really played well, except Feds. Glad we got the point and clean sheet to confirm our play-off spot. Hopefully can put a few past Derby to get us going again before the play-offs.

Looked shaky at the back and offered nothing when in attack. Dull game, but the inflatables provided entertainment. Great pre-match atmosphere. Hundreds of inflatables flying about.

Oh I was close. Hadn't heard the chant before.

Yeah the football kind of got in the way of it all. Boring game. Bored standing up, and a cracking taxi ride to the ground.
