Royal Rother Oh well, perhaps we should just let him go for the 1st offer that comes along.
Come to think of it, he HAS to go for £4m doesn't he as that is the clause in his contract.

Big FootFriday's LegacyBig Foot Heard SSN have it on breaking news we've received 4 bids from PL clubs for Long and none meet our £10m valuation
it's media hype. bids may have come in; we know we've had two from celtic that were knocked back, but no-one knows what our valuation is, and there is a release clause in shane's contract that again the media don't know the value of. you shouldn't be so trusting of sky sports news. it's just a 24 hour red top that needs to fill its air time in the close season.
Where in my post am I expressing a trust in SSN? Merely repeating their 'news' for the benefit of this audience

GreaterTorontoRoyal Arsene Wenger is lining up a £12million bid for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle as Arsenal finally prepare to splash the cash.
Well, if Doyle is worth £12m what would that make Long worth?

Svlad Cjelli Because Doyle isn't in the team to score goals - Wolves have played one up front and he's there to hold up the ball whilst other join the attack - and he's done that superbly.
There is more to players than simply the number of goals they score.

BR2 As an earlier poster said,if Danny Graham has a worth of £3 million or thereabouts so Long must surely be worth about the same or a bit less.
BTW what do posters think Simon Cox is now worth having been chosen ahead of Long in the very important recent World Cup qualifying game ?
Does that now make Long 4th choice for Ireland behind Keane,Doyle and Cox?
If so that puts him on a par with Simon Church who is about 3rd choice for Wales,a national side even worse than Ireland.
If we get more than £3million it might still be a good deal for Reading.

Indeed. Simon Church ran Shane Long very close for POTS last season.
Of course an alternative question to ask would be if central defender Matt Mills has a worth of £4m or thereabouts, what would that make centre forward Long worth?
