He always seems to come out slating the club before he plays against us. Just wondering if he has done it again. He even did it whilst he was at Ipswich

Liam Rosenior has hit out at the way his Reading career ended, insisting he couldn’t care less if his old club did well this season.

The 26-year-old on-loan right-back is allowed to play for Ipswich Town at Madejski Stadium tomorrow (3pm kick-off) after Royals had initially hoped he would sign on at Portman Road on a permanent deal before the transfer deadline.

However, the former England Under-21 international, who is out of contract this summer, had a change of heart at the last minute and joined Roy Keane’s side on loan to keep his options open, with Royals receiving around £200,000 as a loan fee.

It was anticipated that Rosenior would get a good reception on his Madejski Stadium return, but his frank admissions before the game could see him become an easy target for the boo-boys.

“I can’t say I had two great years there because I didn’t,” admitted Rosenior.

“I don’t want to pretend I want them to do well, because I don’t. I haven’t spoken to any Reading players, a lot of them are good friends of mine, but what’s the point in speaking to them before the game?

“After the game I’ll be friends with them again, but before the game I’m not going to talk to them, it’s not important.

“My contract’s up and I’m not going to be there next season. I’m disappointed [with the way things have gone].”

Rosenior joined the club from Fulham in a swap deal that saw South Korea winger Seol Ki-Hyeon move the other way in August 2007.

And the Londoner also hit-out at the financial cost-cutting and what he felt was an apparent change of ambition at the Madejski Stadium this summer as the main reasons for his departure.

He continued: “Financial matters took over. I was signed as a Premier League player and my wages were probably a bit higher than others.

“Maybe people thought I wasn’t worth that or maybe they wanted to give younger players a try. I don’t know, but I’ve got no problem with it.

“Maybe Brendan Rodgers looked at the budget and saw an opportunity to move me on, so he could bring two or three new players to the club.

“Ipswich have spent nearly £10 million on players, Reading have sold nearly £10 million. That tells you everything you need to know.

“It’s the easy option for people to look at the quality they’ve lost, the likes of Kevin Doyle, James Harper and Stephen Hunt, and I’d like to think myself as well.

“But they haven’t won at home since January. That tells you everything you need to know about why they’re in the position they’re in. But Brendan has brought his own players in now.”

Rosenior's career has been rejuvenated at Portman Road and he has started every game since linking up with Roy Keane and scored once.

then  2010
On-loan Ipswich Town defender Liam Rosenior says he only has good things to say about Reading as he prepares to face his parent club on Saturday.
Rosenior's Reading deal expires this summer and he will not return there.
He told BBC Berkshire: "When we played at the Madejski I said a few things which were taken out of context.
"I said I'd had a disappointing time there, but the only reason I said it was disappointing was because we didn't achieve what we should have achieved."
He added: "We should still be in the Premier League and I was a part of that and that was the disappointment.
"I have nothing but good things to say about the club and the way it's run and the young players there.

"It's so good to see someone like Brian McDermott get a chance in management because he's worked so hard at that club, bringing players in and looking after players and he's getting the results and performances that the Reading fans deserve.
"It's good that Reading are doing so well - I never thought they were in danger of going down and I wish everyone at the club all the best

No problem with him at all. Good luck to him for the future (except against Reading FC of course)

Is Harps still turning out for Hull?

Rosenior had a massively overinflated opinion of his own ability. Given he was pretty crap that doesn't say good things about him.

He fell over a lot. Didn't have good positioning and couldn't pass to save his life. He was a total waste of almost certainly a very decent wage and I'm very pleased he's no longer with us.

His Dad seems nice though.

And his worst period of play for us was in Feb/March 2008, when we desperately needed competent defenders.

If he'd stayed on his feet more we'd more than likely have not been relegated

Agreed & Agreed.

Hull supporting colleague said that he's been on good form this season - one of their most consistent performers in a solid defense.

Looking back, for all the slagging he got whilst he was here, I wish we'd kept hold of Seol Ki-Hyeon.
