Can you really justify giving someone an assist for a penalty that wasn't scored? That's like giving an assist for a great cross which was headed wide.

Snowball Not only is Roberts posted but I separated it out
so he'd be easy to see

Whatever...

My apologies, I checked several times but didn't see him.

Still, why is HRK listed twice?

We've already discussed this, Snowball decided he was right and everyone else should be sectioned.

Wasn't the pen the assist as Roberts followed up and scored, but not the winning of the Pen, or was that a signifigant contribution, or similar?

Ahh.

LOLaughabLOLe.

Well I hereby award McAnuff, Roberts and Harte an extra goal for each taking a penalty. Hunt gets an extra two. Not important that all of them got missed, they were penalties.

Given Cywka has an assist according to snowball it must be winning the penalty.

PS I call ShambLOLes.

Then don't call it an assist

Look at it like this

1 Goal = 1 Major Contribution
1 Penalty Win = 1 Major Contribution
1 Assist = 1 Major Contribution

I award an MC for any of the above.

I am still stunned that people can't see that winning a penalty that's scored
is no better (from the POV of the person winning the pen) than winning one
that's missed or results in a brilliant save

McDermott bigged up Cywka and said "Last game he won us a penalty"

He didn't say, "The Pole won us a pen but what's the point, eh, cos McAnuff missed?"

Right, so add in all the major contributions for all the great crosses / passes that have been missed by the recipient. And all the free kick wins where a goal was scored (or nearly scored).

ShambLOLes. I say again SHAMBLOLES.

Winning a pen is given as an assist by stats sites (and me)

But hitting the post and then following up
we don't give a player a goal and say he assisted himself

I tell you what, folks.

Why don't you try to explain the difference between winning a penalty that two minutes later is missed by a different player

and the difference between a "great cross" or a "great pass" that is not converted by a player

For one thing, RFC averages converting 1 in 9 SHOTS
and presumably an even lower percentage of CHANCES

But the conversion rate for penalties is 85%

In other words. Winning a penalty is like scoring .85 of a goal, that's how good winning a pen is.

The two HRK's is a cut and paste I was supposed to then change. Will correct

But your not differentiating between an average shot and an excellent chance from 5 yards out and if you're going to use Reading's goals from chances created at least use our conversion rate of penalties as well.

I am sure you mean well, but at this time the

Snowball I said Shane will be a 20-goal striker in the Championship and he got 27 Goals.

24 was it not?

Learn to read. Shane was in the Championship and got 27 goals, doesn't mean Shane got 27 Championship goals

Ian Royal According to Soccerbase, which I'd generally hold as more reliable, personally. Although I'm sure it's not infallible. Maybe snowball isn't counting goals against Stevenage for some reason.

Someone who gets 28 goals also gets 27 goals

If you're going to include international goals then it is 28.

Not my point. If I have 5 apples I also have 4 apples
but I don't have six apples

I just LOVE the way this list works.

The original point was I said Shane Long would be a 20-Goal a season Championship player

He WAS. End. The fact that he EXCEEDED my prediction has now got a load of saddos
scurrying around desperate to prove I may be a goal out, as if somehow then I'd be wrong. So what if I am?

The point is what I predicted came true and then some. That's the important bit.

And I made that prediction, stuck to it, bet on it and made money on it, in the face of ridicule

I think you're the one who needs to learns how to read. I was just making a point that he didn't get 27 goals in the league :|
