SCIAG If you're going to include international goals then it is 28.

Not my point. If I have 5 apples I also have 4 apples
but I don't have six apples

I just LOVE the way this list works.

The original point was I said Shane Long would be a 20-Goal a season Championship player

He WAS. End. The fact that he EXCEEDED my prediction has now got a load of saddos
scurrying around desperate to prove I may be a goal out, as if somehow then I'd be wrong. So what if I am?

The point is what I predicted came true and then some. That's the important bit.

And I made that prediction, stuck to it, bet on it and made money on it, in the face of ridicule

:|

There were plenty of other people who backed Long to become a good player for us last year, not just you. Do you see them all posting on here 24/7 claiming they were the only one to back Long?

I didn't say he DID score 27 goals in the league.

I said Shane will be a 20-goal striker in the Championship and he got 27 (or 28) Goals.

Nobody was contesting that Long scored more than 20 goals and that that didn't stop him being a 20 goal a season scorer at this level.

If I were to contest it, I'd probably do what you did to Gylfi and remove penalties from his total, which brings him down to 15. 15 goals is still very impressive though, and of course to all intents and purposes penalties are still goals.

FWIW, there were loads of people who thought Long would come good. For a long time I was one of them, I began to lose faith just before he came good though so I don't rub it in people's faces like you do.

Other Snowball claims to fame: being the only person who thought Ian Harte would score goals (not true, I don't think anyone doubted his goalscoring) and being the only person who thought Jimmy Kebe was a good player (not true, jumped on the bandwagon started by Brendy/Melonhead).

Sciag, I love the way so many of you lot re-write history. From my FIRST POST here, defending Long, I was ridiculed for it, and at least 95% of posters said he would never make it

I see, so...

He could score 10 at this level, 15 if he gets he starts starting well.

is the same as me saying he would be a 20+ player in the CCC and 10 in the Prem

When did I ever say that?

No doubt you can provide proof?

I have no idea who supported Harte.

I do know it felt like I was in a minority of one. Should I cite the threads?

And one thing I NEVER do is jump on bandwagons. I'm Snowball, not Ian Royal

I have been a firm Kebe supporter since I arrived on this forum, and you won't find
any post of mine in the first two years after me arriving where I didn't rate him

It isn't rewriting history at all. A lot of people said he wouldn't make it, but they were a minority. A lot of people (probably a majority) didn't really rate him, much like Church now, but thought he could be a good player. A substantial minority thought he was a decent player who could improve.

It is rewriting history to say you were the only one who thought Ian Harte would score goals.

No, it isn't. You pushed the boat out more than anyone as far as I remember, both in terms of how certain you were and how many goals you thought he'd score. Though notice that I didn't see him as a penalty taker

Please note that I was talking about 19 year old Shane Long in 2008, not 21 year old Shane Long in 2010. I'm also not boasting that I was right and XYZ was wrong (partially because I thought Long had missed his chance early last season), merely pointing out that you weren't the only person praising Long.

I hate going through old threads, but:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=102642&p=2892926&hilit=harte#p2892926
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=92121&p=2897447&hilit=harte#p2897447

You made no serious claims as to Harte's ability other than "he will score and assist and be better than Williams", to claim that makes you RIGHT when he does score from set pieces is weird. I mean, you were right, but that was something nobody doubted, and it was in the context of you knowing better than everyone else.
