Alexander Litvinenko
bracksroyal10 How anyone can moan at this signing is beyond me.

Church, Hunt and Le Fondre can legitimately moan at it.

Why is that then?

I know, lets not sign anyone and see how we get on, is that what you want?

Well if anyone ever believes a word written in The Sun, they say it is a contract worth around £13m - £65000 per week.
I'm sure that would upset the apple cart.

He was saying that players who are likely to play less because of a new signing might be a bit annoyed at, you know, playing less?
It was clearly tongue in cheek too.
But full marks for the over-reaction.

fairly casual use of the word legitimately though, if my company got a bigger contract with a new client and they decided they need to bring in another member of staff because I hadn't shown from my performance in the previous year that I would be good enough to take on the new work and challenges then I don't really have a legitimate reason to complain, its my fault alone that my performance wasn't of a high enough standard to convince those above me that I could perform the role.

This definitely seems worth discussing. Why has no one mentioned this before now?

It's a free transfer so presumably the market value for him (circa 7m) we are paying to him by way of wages. I presume from this that he would be one of Brian's top choices for the summer

akranes "Reading
On 19 June 2012 it was announced that Pogrebnyak will sign for Reading, pending a medical on 20 June 2012."
(^ already been posted)
Was pretty exciting to see, though I'm sure it's a long way off...
would be a very good quality addition imo, we need more russian players.

Akranes, as in the Icelandic town?

Lola goes to a party there in 101 Reykjavík I think. For my part I had lunch there once.

Just to put the finances in context :

Even if the suggested £65k per week is correct -

Jay Rodriguez - £30k per week for 52 weeks for 4 years = £6.24m +£7m transfer fee is £13.24m
The Pog - £65k per week for 52 weeks for 4 years = £13.52m

Not much difference in price for a current international who's been plying his trade in the top divisions of Europe, versus an unproven, non-international.
JR may prove to be a worldbeater, but at the current moment, this looks like a reasonable deal in comparison

I see a lot of people moaning about people moaning about this as a signing, and absolutely no one moaning about the signing. At worst some people are expressing concern and disbelief at the level of wages reported in the Sun

Just realised I'm moaning about people moaning about people moaning about this signing. Damn, I just shit out my brain in confusion trying to work that out.

The main difference would be upon relegation. We'd find it fairly easy to move on Rodriguez for a decent fee and he'd find it fairly easy to find a similar or better wage.
Pogrebneyak on the other hand, obviously we'd find it relatively easy to get a large fee than we spent, but would he find somewhere that would pay as much or more as easily? Much less certain, in which case we could be stuck with someone on £45k in the Chump for 3 years. Which would be Bad.

So it's not as simple as you say.
