sandman Finally someone got it. I can't believe you all kept biting.

I mean, really? You people, it's the oldest trick in the book. Did none of you watch wrestling as a kid? The bad guy always refers to the fans of the hometown favourite as "you people". The posts are so over the top that I thought it was obvious but you still kept taking it seriously and responding.

On another matter, just been speaking to Pompey season ticket holder colleague to say Andersen was outstanding on Saturday. On another day they would of been six or seven down but thanks to outstanding saves kept them in it. One in particular brought about a standing ovation from both sets of supporters....

However.... He then made a right howler for the 2nd (not seen it myself) which killed the game off.

Howard is by far their best player. Obita is okay ish!

I'd rather have Federici in goal - I'd like to think he has been given a talking to by the club for his reaction on instagram and can sort his attitude out. I also hope McCarthy does well and I have confidence in him as a keeper, but at the moment I feel Federici is the more proven of the two.

Not sure why.

If McCarthy was told he was playing on saturday you'd assume Federici was told he wasn't playing at the same time so there was no need to be there on Sunday at all.

Maybe the club asks all members of the squad to turn up and support the team. I certainly see the yoof players sitting in the West Stand

I think most clubs stipulate that players have to attend home games.

If he did leave (which I'm doubting to be honest) Federici may have been told to report to the ground for the game along with everyone else in case McCarthy or Taylor picked up a knock and had to pull out. Once they'd completed the warm up he may have been free to leave.

I'm sure McDermott said he'd told Federici he wasn't playing on Saturday as well, but then his Instagram picture looks to be his kit in the dressing room so who knows....

If he left early why were people talking to him after the match?

Maguire
Snowball
The fact it didn't go in was nothing to do with McCarthy. Similarly if Federici had someone stood behind him on the line against Stoke it wouldn't have gone in either.

It was an appalling error. Whether or not Sigurdsson completes the tap in is neither here nor there wrt the error.

McCarthy had a bad game.

It was an appalling error. But he closed down Defoe quickly so he didn't have a clear shot on goal and forced him to pass it, giving the defence time to get back and cover. So McCarthy did have something to do with it not going in. And it didn't.

So it still comes down to:
Federici 2 mediocre games with one howler in each directly causing goals that shouldn't have been scored. Plus the cup game.
McCarthy 1 bad game with terrible mistakes that went unpunished.

McCarthy's not carrying an injury. He's only played badly once. Federici's carrying an injury and hasn't played well three times.

McCarthy keeps the shirt.

Maguire
Vision The point surely is whether you think McCarthy will make the same mistakes in the future and whether they will lead to goals being conceded up against whether you think Federici will continue to make the same mistakes that will also lead to further goals in the future.

If you think just because McCarthy giving the ball straight to an opposition forward didn't lead to a goal on this occasion means it won't in the future then I'm afraid you're a little deluded. I'm inclined to think it's first game nerves rather than a recurring problem but if it is an issue then "well they didn't score from it this time" really isn't a legitimate reason to not address the problem.

Spot on.

Benefit of the doubt I guess but if he plays like that again then *shudder*

At the moment there's no reason to believe it wasn't nerves and he won't buck up in the next game. If he doesn't then obviously the gloves pass to Taylor.

I'm not quite sure what to make of that Instagram picture to be honest - you can't even see whose kit it is - is it Feds? Is it McCarthys?

The other thing is that you cannot see what the timeline is - was it a picture taken this weekend even? It could have been taken some time ago - that screenshot doesn't show times and dates for either the picture or the comments - it could simply have been Feds hitting back at some of the negative stuff from a couple of weeks back (singing McCarthys name etc), we don't even know when he was asked if he was injured - it could have been weeks ago and it's only after the weekend that someone picked up on it.....

If someone has evidence to the contrary then so be it, but until then I'll go with innocent until proven....
