no you didnt, i was watching him with my left eye, while i simultaneously monitored guthries performance with my right, and i can honestly say no such thing occured.

apart from when he pointed at guthrie and said. YOU! I LOVE YOU!
but you cant criticise him for that surely

As decent a player as we have in this squad but he flatters to deceive most of the time. He did have a decent long range shot that was blocked on sat, we don't seem to have enough efforts on goal overall though which they should do more especially when nothing else is on. Symptom of a lack of confidence no doubt.

floyd__streete Guthrie Watch: Threw his hands up in the air in frustration at a move breaking down in which his loose pass put us in trouble and was involved in some other passages of sloppy play.....but generally a good performance, involved in most positive things about Reading on the day. Fair few more of these kind of days owed to us, please.

It was a shit pass, but he had a point with Gunter being asleep and standing on his heels when he should have been moving forward looking for that pass. As it turns out Guthrie was wearing bananaskin boots first half and spaffing passes all over the shop so even if Gunter had been ...ahem.... 'on the ball' he probably wouldn't have got there first.

Since Adkins has been here and Guthrie has played every game under him, he's been the best player in the team thus far with McCarthy a close second.

I really hope he stays, he will be a great contributor to the team in the Championship

If only McDermott had had the ability to understand Guthrie instead of blanking him we might still be in with a chance, stand by an earlier comment I made, depending what happens with McAnuff, can see Adkins making him captain, and good as it he would be !

Shows what a change of manager can do, it has reinvigorated Guthrie, Karacan, Gunter, arguably McCleary.

Probably not McCleary. He couldnt show us what he could do when McD didnt pick him. He needs to work on his decision making (sorely lacking v Fulham) because he has everything else.

Jem is one that I'm glad has come good under Adkins.

I've been saying for years that he occasionally shows signs that he is a much better passer than he gets the opportunity to show under Mcdermott and that with more time and composure he'd be able to show it. I always thought the running around million miles an hour thing that he was doing was part of his hyperactive nature, but it seems it was actually what he was being asked to do.

And a few delusional Guthrie haters on here would pull a hernia at the thought.

Great idea 8)

I understand your pain :D

It's quite easy to blame a player for everything that has gone wrong pre-Adkins, it's so bloody obvious what was the problem with us being relegated.

Interesting to watch how the side is evolving and how some of our players are adapting to the new way of playing.

The early signs are very encouraging, and Guthrie's improved form and growing influence on games is probably the biggest single positive of the last few weeks. It does show how it was possible to get this side playing a bit more fluidly and with more of a focus on keeping the ball and being patient and this is being done during the season whilst it would seem that McDermott and his team failed to evolve into this type of football over a full pre-season.

I'm hopeful we'll keep Guthrie and he'll be integral to some more attractive football next season.

I've been very down on Guthrie's "Billy Big Spuds" atttitude til now , but Fulham was a revelation.

Genuinely looking forward to next season if we can keep him and Jem in CM.

Funny how we're playing better now he's in the team instead of Leigertwood...who'dve thought (apart from every fan who actually knows anything about football)? Glad he's been getting a chance under Adkins, hopefully keep hold of him and we'll be fine next year.

Remember his twitter rant

“I’m trying to fit into the direct style of play the manager wants and I pass too much at the minute which is my best asset.

“I understand what the manager wants, but stopping habits like going and getting the ball off the back four is difficult.

I'm glad Adkins realises Guthrie is good at doing this (ie, getting the ball off the back 4 and passing it around the park)......just a shame McD didn't

well played gutho.
youre becoming the player we all wanted when you signed.
which can be in no small part down to adkins

although it is easy to start spraying passes around once youre down

Kind of agree, but i'm not going to go overboard after one good performance against opponents who allowed us all the time in the world to play football.

He obviously has some talent but I'm not sure about the application.

Also amused by the way his earlier performance involving miscontrolling the ball, pinging passes into the stands and so on were all McDermott's fault.

I disagree. Who said that then?
