McCarthy stars again.

Not going to be able to keep him are we?

Got to be worth £7m plus on this showing

Much much better second half. Unlucky not to get a goal. Almost thought you could say we deserved a draw the hard work, but City just have way too much quality. Terrible defending from Kelly for the second, and Gunter not even remotely holding a line. Hi ho.

I think we can hold our heads up high. McCleary, HRK and McAnuff will terrorise championship defences with pace and trickery. Pog and ALF can score for fun. The defence will be plenty good enough, as will midfield. Please, please please let us keep McCarthy not Federici.

Royal With Cheese
BraisingsteakRoyal Not his natural side, tbf.

A sad indictment of recent transfer dealings when he's still the best left back at the club.

Agreed - actually looked decent going forward - supplements the attack very well.

On an unrelated point - where's Akpan?

Perhaps Adkins is getting Akpan and Blackman mixed up when he calls out the team sheet?

You know, because their names sound similar?

/no racist

Apparently we don't have to sell anybody, especially not McCarthy who will be on pretty low wages still.
Didn't Feds get a pay increase to ~£30,000 p/w. I'm guessing we might shift him on, so I'm 75% confident we'll keep McCarthy

Extra training shifts for their crossing though (add Kebe to that list as well).

I'm only really worried about full-backs... Ours are all mediocre at best.

Elsewhere we look decent for next year :)

I'm worried about up front actually. We definitely need another striker. Really hope Alf stays with us. Wonder if Adkins will play 4-4-2?

We don't have to sell anyone - but if someone wants to move, say to a club which will pay them much more and provide them with much better career prospects, can we reasonably stop them going - or would it be fair to?

As the cliché goes :
Football agents say not If you don't let my boy have his transfer, he'll be a very unhappy player. And we all know how unhappy players play, don't we?

Don't think any Prem clubs can/will promise him first team football for next season, so he might as well stay with us for 1 more year at least.
Get in the top 6 next year might convince him to stay once again.
Doesn't seem the type of player to make too much of a fuss if he doesn't get exactly what he wants anyway.
He's got pretty much guaranteed 1st team football at a club currently in the top 25 or so in England, it would be a bit daft to swap that for a club between the top 20-15 where he might end up on the bench.

Blackman really is utter gash. He has absolutely nothing about him that leads you to think he's actually a professional

Just what is Adkins' obsession with him? It's worrying as he doesn't seem keen on hunty or Alf

Players don't think like that.

They have the self belief to think that if they get one chance they'll grab it and be good enough to stay in the first team wherever they are.

Give it a couple of years and Blackman will have mastered the art of keeping his toes off the pitch when taking a throw-in. You'll see...

I'd like to think one of AZ's goons would be slowly strangling the agent that said that whilst AZ himself would be pushing a pen across the table to the player

This... i think gunter looks poor and even dropping down a division i can't see a vast improvement, get a Left back in and move Kelly back to right side and our back 4 should be fine for next season

:| Gunter's been completely rejuvenated since Adkins came in. He'll be one of the best right backs in the league next season.

Kelly looked nothing special on the right after his first three or so games. I'd rather persevere with Gunter and get an LB myself.

I was impressed with Kelly from the start - but it definitely shows that he's playing out of position now.

If his agents HRK's brother then he'll probably be off.
Does anyone know who McCarthy supports? Reading's pretty much his local team, we're not gonna get that "I went to Liverpool because I've supported them all my life" shit are we.
