Speculation - Johnny Russell

Quality striker with 20 goals this season for Dundee United. Bags of pace and worth a shout for around £1 million

if were in for a 23 year old, id rather have charlie austin. proven at this level and capable of developing into a threat in the premier league.

A striker that has more than proved he deserves a shot in the Premiership and is way out of our price range.

We are in need of strikers especially with the fact Hunt is leaving, the Pog is very likely to be going and the the possibility of Le Fondre leaving, plus Roberts will soon retire. If Huddersfield and Sheffield UTD are bidding i'm sure we could compete with them and the player would favour a move to us as we are likely to bounce back to the premiership in the next few seasons.

What's his contract like? If he has 2 years or more left then you can forget it. It'd take £4m easily.

true, but it also depends on the budget anton has set for us. also the probability of pog off the wage bill could help us fund austin.

Austin has a year left so they may look to cash in.

They may. I think Billy Sharp is more likely because of the relationship between the player and the manager, but Austin would be superb also. To be honest, how great is it we're discussing which two of these two we'd like most, knowing both could be possible, when in the past neither would have been within our budget. I'm looking forward to watching Nigel Adkins rebuild this team in his own style.

Cannot agree more. Obviously Sharpe is much more likely, but spending a couple of million more (not sure on price) to sign Austin would be a real sign of intent.

McCarthy
Carrico
HRK
Austin

A very, very nice base for a team.
