RUMOUR: Didier Drogba & Jem Karacan

I have a good understanding that Galatasary are desperate to get a deal for Karacan and are willing to broker a deal allowing Drogba to come to Reading on a season long loan, although Karacan will go the other way permanently.

It's unknown that cash will be involved but if so I am guessing it will be a lot less than initially, especially if we go back up at the first attempt

It makes sense to me. Drogba is 35 and really his best days are behind him. He is however good enough for the Championship but isn't deemed good enough for the Turkish top flight. Karacan is well rated, a lot younger. Bidding with Drogba who is likely to get you out of the Championship and who only has one year left on his contract is not a bad idea by them. Especially if it gets them Jem for less/free

Might give a bit more to this from the Karacan thread:

Cafe owner across from work is a big Gala fan. He told me a few weeks ago that they were interested in Karacan and Frei. Obviously he knows as much/little about Gala's transfer plans as we do about Reading's, but an interesting and I believe valid point he made is that there are new rules coming in to the Turkish league restricting foreigners so clubs are looking to bring in players with Turkish passports/citizenship etc.

Has Drogba got a Turkish passport, is there an amount of international players any one team can have? If there's 3 slots and Galatasary have 5 internationals it makes perfect sense to ship two out on loan incase 2 leave before next season or 2 who are out of contract.

Also Karacan would not be classed as foreign as he does have a Turkish passport and Galatasary can save money whilst solving this issue

With the amount of posts from different posters on this topic, I can only guess someone is on a windup or that no one takes you seriously. I'd keep all doors open as long as possible, but somehow, I don't think this is happening (I'm not an insider though, so I'm happy to be contradicted).

Who says we would have to pay 100% of the wages. For selling them Karacan for free, we might only have to pay 20% and they pay the rest. Although I understand there is a certain minimum a club loaning a player must pay
