Good to see we've evolved from "fcuk off and support Chelsea" to "fcuk off and support Reading Town".

Good move by the club! Another sponsor = more money coming in, and for a sponsor that appears at the top arse end of the shorts. Great work!!

Has this been confirmed? Whenever I've seen sponsorship like this it has always been on the front or back of the leg so it can be seen when the players have their shirts un-tucked.

Confirmed the sponsor is on the back of the shorts. "The deal will see the company’s logo emblazoned on the back of the Royals shorts for the forthcoming season." The assumption is at the top, as they can clearly print across, whereas the back of the legs doesn't offer much space and you lose symmetry.

If that's the case then The Legend Alliance obviously need a new negotiator.

The OS article says:
Reading team up with The Legend Alliance

Reading FC are pleased to announce that The Legend Alliance have been unveiled as the club’s new shorts sponsor for the 2013/14 campaign.

The partnership was announced with a photo call on Wednesday afternoon, as Chairman Sir John Madejski welcomed representatives from the Basingstoke based company to Madejski Stadium.

The deal will see the company’s logo emblazoned on the back of the Royals shorts for the forthcoming season.

Royals Chairman Sir John Madejski said, "This is a really exciting deal and shows just what can be done. It's the first time that we have had a short sponsor in the history of Reading Football Club, and I really appreciate the skill of our departments to take up these opportunities. Congratulations all round, as far as I'm concerned."

Craig Stimpson, Head of Sales & Marketing at The Legend Alliance, added, "We're delighted to have this opportunity to be a prominent sponsor of Reading Football Club for the 2013/14 season.

"We're passionate about our brand and seeing the branding and logo out there on the back of the Reading shorts will really be fantastic."

Legend Alliance specialise in data provision, working with companies at the cutting edge of their industry to help deliver innovative marketing techniques.

It says on the back but that doesn't specify where on the back and the poster assumes where it will. "back" doesn't just mean above the backside.

Cobi Samuelson also said when the takeover was announced that we will later look at stadium sponsorship as well, and that makes perfect sense with FFP. I don't care what they cal the ground anyway, it's only ever "the football ground" to me.

Don't want the stadium name to change, don't like that sort of sponsorship. Happy to see each stand individually sponsored. I guess I could cope without too much grumbling about 'The "Blah blah" Madejski Stadium'.

Fine with the odd logo tastefully embalzoned on the kit. Short of something on the socks I think we're at the limit of tastefulness now though.

winchester_royal All the dullards moaning about it will shut up once the extra revenue is used to complete our next signing.

Why would do we need extra revenue to do that if the Zingarevich family is so rich? First it was for brand exposure and now it's because we need extra revenue.

Because FFP rules mean you can only spend what you generate. Zingarevich has also made clear that he wants the club to run as a business and to be self-financing as an ultimate goal, sponsorships are an important money-making tool for any sports team.

Dullard.

Sponsor whore.

If this happened at a club with proper fans it wouldn't just be accepted like this. I don't get how can people be so worked up about the hoops not going all the way around and then just lap up the kit which is one of if not the main symbol of the club being defaced with sponsors all over it.

I really hope the club goes where you and Zingarevich hope this strategy will take it otherwise one day when you've matured a bit you may well be wondering what happened to your football club.

Sticking this in The Team forum is too much, especially when there's a thread on this in Policies. And no, no it's not. The club needs to make money. This is better than fleecing the fans!

Even more reason we need to get back to the Prem, where only one sponsor is allowed on the whole kit

Not a fan of Central and Southern American kits? Like CF Monterrey?

Couldn't we have a different sponsor on each individual hoop?

Don't want the stadium name to change, don't like that sort of sponsorship. Happy to see each stand individually sponsored. I guess I could cope without too much grumbling about 'The "Blah blah" Madejski Stadium'.

Must feel that way though, for the half of our supporters who only rocked up when we got to the PL.

Some will care, others wont tbf. I'd sooner we see a statue of SJM standing next to Steve Coppell (Leicester) holding the scarf than having his name on the stadium. Bolton were getting more than £1m a season for having Reebok sponsor them in the PL. Wth FFP now I can see a lot of clubs doing it. They all need to find additional income to make themselves more competitive.
