From his news conference, it seems Holloway has had trouble keeping the spirit that got them up once he added new players. To me that's reminiscent of Brian at the start of last season, particularly his lack of rapport with Guthrie. I remember we all said that Coppell needed to add quality to his squad when he went up, but by not doing so, maybe he kept the same ethos together. Palace are finding it really tough, as we did--staying up is a horrendous task for clubs with little spending power. But I admire Brian more than Holloway for coping with it all manfully, never throwing in the towel

I agree about Brian. Maybe it is/was because he genuinely cared about the club, the fans and the group of players who got us promotion. Never once complained or made excuses just tried to get on with the job the best he could. Unfortunately it wasn't quite enough.

I wonder what all the players he signed must be feeling. 8 games and he's gone. If he's jumped ship, he's a twat. If the board ushered him out, they're twats. This is just ludicrous.

They've spent around £15million according to this link http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/cryst ... n_873.html

More than Hull. So I don't think it's spending power, more that they spread it too thin. You can't sign 15 (?) players and expect them to gel within 8 matches.

One injured winger and I'd fancy a cheeky Kebe loan-back come January.

Not least the two (poor Dobbie the play-off elf was one I think) who he signed then left out of his PL squad.

It's ludicrous, but it is an inevitable side-effect of a difference of one league amounting to £40-50m per annum for a football club.

No, definately not. He is damaged goods (in more ways than one!). We're better off without him.

He told the club he wanted out as soon as McDermott was sacked, so if he was loaned anywhere, it would most likely be to Leeds. Why would he admit he was wrong and want to come back here, and more to the point, why would we want him? We are over-blessed with good wingers. By far the best group in the division.

Know I'm going to be well later to the party on this one - but was shocked to see when I watched Football League Show that Tony Mowbray has been sacked at Boro. They're going nowhere fast.

Why shocked? In 2013 they've played 33, won 5, drawn 9 and lost 19. Very few clubs would have given Mowbray as long as Boro did. Gibson is one of the best chairmen in the league.

Kind of funny hearing chants of Paulo di Canio on MOTD...not sure it was actually the Sunderland fans...but today you have to consider there can be only one other prem team in trouble.

Does anyone believe that either Sunderland or Palace can get out of this?
