me You could play Adkins bingo with his interviews. Print this off before the next game and play along:

Good Possession of the football []
We move on []
Cross the white line []
Credit to the opposition []
I'm not using it as an excuse []
The fans were great today []
I've got to go away and... []

And applicable to every manager..

'Listen' although tbf he has to tell people to do that in case they've fallen asleep whilst he's talking.

Didn't we have a manager before that the more wise and "in the know" members of this site used to criticise about his manner and utter bollox he used to spout about how he wanted his side to play, and was then rightfully sacked as he was considered an embarrassment to football, what was his name ?????? ah yes Brendan Rodgers ... wonder where he is now ???

For whatever reason, I just don't feel any connection with this current RFC squad and manager. And what makes anyone think we will get a new owner in the summer? If we at least get into the play-offs it might prove an interesting venture for a new owner to push us on and get some credit for getting us up next year. But the players don't seem to appreciate that if they actually played with any pride and passion and togetherness, it might be all that's needed to get us back into top 6 and a chance at the "big time". If they don't seem up for it, gawd knows how we're meant to be.

We won't sell our big money players - because they won't move, unless they are at the end of their contracts - who else in their right minds are going to pay thousands a week for the likes of Pog and Drenthe for example? The parachute money will continue to pay for these over inflated wages, crowds will probably be down, we'll have no money to buy new players if SJM is still running things and no buyer comes in and we'll be in the same situation as this season. A new owner is going to be the key, but who is going to want to pump millions into this team from what they've seen of it recently?

You may mock Floyd for his grumpiness and pessimism, but I hope he isn't proved right this time next year if we have to remain the way we are.

If you can't feel a connection to the likes of McCarthy, Pearce, Obita & Hector there probably isn't any hope for you in modern football.

My lack of connectivity is rapidly being aimed at our "fans"

From recent visits to the 'stad (one of which very recently nearly came to blows)...and from some of the garb that I read on here.

Yes, you as the wage payers have every right to voice your opinion both on and off of the pitch, but come-on folks....perleeeeeeze.

However and despite it all, you have never had it so good for so long.......even in this blighted season.

Another season concludes with us still "involved" in something.

Another brilliant contribution from Ian Royal - how about addressing the other points in my post? :|

It was the only one I wanted to comment on. I'm not here just to answer your posts RL, don't be so egocentric.

Tbf - the main criticism of him was that he was trying to impose a style of football on a team incapable of playing in that manner. Brian started from what he had and got the best out of the squad. Adkins wants a similar style of passing football to BR and he is having similar difficulties in getting the players to comply. But at least he is more flexible than BR and recognises that and tries to work within the limitations of our squad. BR was lucky to find a club in Swansea where they had already been coached in the passing style by their previous manager and he was able to build on that. And at Liverpool he had good premier league players who could adapt their game to that style - and good luck to him! He wasn't right for us at that time but I am glad he is doing so well now and in with more than a decent shout at winning the PL title and even Manager of the Year (if Pulis doesn't get it!)

Whilst I agree with that, we are talking about so called professional footballers here, who should be able to adapt to different styles of play.

When you set out on your career, most will play for say 10 different managers throughout their career, so will see different styles imposed on them, so they need to be able to adapt or will have a very limited career.

But generally speaking you'll be fitting into a team which is already doing that, and it's easier for one person to change and fit in, than it is for everyone.

There's a massive confidence problem at the moment and its a hangover from last season. They're so mentally fragile. Not necessarily weak, as they showed a couple of times under McDermott, just very easily the confidence is shattered if a few things go wrong in a row.

This^

Some people have decided that they are never going to support Adkins simply because he has committed the heinous crime of not being McDermott.

That's not while I feel no connection to the team...I don't know what it is, but this season has just felt so "different" for me.

Doesn't have to be McD just has to show some sort of understanding of the club and it's identity. But then there are some 'fans' like yourself who don't understand that so it's difficult for Nige to.

Didn't Adkins say we had 6 cup finals the other day?

Shame they've played it like 6 pre season friendlies.

I don't know about others but I simply don't warm to him. He just does not come across as down to earth as Coppell or McD and he seems a bit false. If I was interviewing him I would not think, Yes this is someone I could do business with. Just gut feel I guess but that's why there is a lack of connectivity for me
