Surely it would make more sense to strengthen the conference and non leagues than go into the existing football leagues. A club like Aldershot could really benefit by being overtaken by a stronger local club like Reading.

Just restrict the number of non homegrown players permissable in the "starting line up" ....say, 6 per game (teams can have as many as they like in their squads...yet can only nominate 6 to feature on a matchday)......the "young homegrown talent" would have to fill the remaining 5 (plus the bench) places.

So 16th can go up and 21st goes down. Just 6 points between those positions in L1 this season. What a bent season that would be

You might be a heartless bastard and be completely non-plussed about the likes of AFC Wimbledon, Northampton Town and Hartlepool Town inevitably being displaced from the football league to make way for the likes of Man Utd B and Chelsea B.
But don't be naive and think that this won't negatively affect us at some point in the future as well. It will.

The fact that they chose to show aggregate crowds rather than average is disappointingly misleading, especially as the figures are impressive without having to twist the truth to make a point.

Germany also only has two B Teams in its national leagues (3 divisions).

It's just typical FA "magic bullet" thinking, looking for one quick fix that'll magically make England world cup contenders, without actually having to the difficult work of working out how to train our players better.

You can watch Belgian 4th division football and see players with better technique than in the championship. OK, they are usually pretty shit at doing other things, but it's amazing that you can have England U21 players who can't do basic things like trap a ball. I remember Leroy Lita, and his efforts at controlling a pass made you think he had pinball machine flippers fixed to his ankles.

Showing average attendances would be even more misleading.
The German 2nd and the English 2nd tier have averaged a very similar attendance this season, both in the 17,000s.
But posting such an average would be misleading because you are comparing the average attendances of the 19th-36th best clubs of Germany with the 21st to 44th best clubs of England (& Wales).

If both countries adopted the same format, either 18,18 or 20,24 then the English Tier 2 would have a much, much larger average attendance than the German Tier 2.

An interesting fact:
Luton Town (5th tier), currently ranked 93rd best team in the country.

Average attendance this season: 7,387.
That's more than:
Getafe - 18th in La Liga
Ajaccio - 20th in Ligue 1
Cagliari - 15th in Serie A

In fact the German Bundesliga is the only league in Europe, outside England, where all clubs have had a bigger following than Luton Town this season.
