urz13 What sort of a prospect is Stacey, out of interest? His goals recently have been great.

Think Little.

Best bits of Little, Seol and Kébé ;) He's quicker and more of a goal threat than Little, and not as good with his delivery (well duh), but I definitely see the comparison, they have a similar build and gait.

tidus_mi2 Something I've wondered about the academy, did we get Cat 1 status based on the building plans at Bearwood? If so, and say due to our situation at the moment we aren't able to go ahead with these upgrades to the youth facilities, would we be downgraded to Cat 2?

I am sure Bearwood will have played a part in it. I think academies are reviewed every two years, so we have another year to sort it out.

I'm not actually sure how much of a difference it will make. Remember that these players pre-date EPPP, and Pearce etc. even predate the reforms after WC 2006. If we're capable of producing the best bunch of kids their age without the benefits of Category 1, why worry about being Category 2?

Because It allowed us to cherry pick players like Cardwell and Collins who have impressed (especially Cardwell)

If we were Cat 2 and still producing top quality youngsters, the Cat 1 academies would be able to buy our youngsters for far below what the club would value them at.

Is our ability to cherry pick actually compromised by being Cat 2? And aren't other clubs allowed to poach our players anyway? I am not sure.

My concerns would be:

1) Lower standard of opponents
2) Less compensation when our players are the ones being poached

The second of those is a fairly minor problem (we'd lose about two weeks of Danny Guthrie's wages in a worst case scenario), but the first could be a big concern.

I'm not too sure how it works, if people could poach our players, why would Man City be offering £2m for Kuhl? Or do the compensation rules stop applying after 16?

Thought last night's win owed a lot to the kids , their appearance just before ko with the cup really lifted the crowd and meant there was a much more positive atmosphere round the ground than previously. Another example of how having a top youth set up brings lots of benefits !

Lost 4-2 to Tottenham, so they'll be finishing in the bottom half of the U21 league

Promotion campaign next year!

Such a relaxed run up, didn't bother about smashing it just let the curl take it past the keeper

Insane technique.... not sure if the wind was actually helping or not. Literally passes it into the top corner...
