Nameless Redundancy for someone who has been in a job less than a year is next to nothing.

As for the chairman sacrificing his salary - has SJM ever actually taken a salary from the club ? I really don't know, but it might be interesting to know.....

donnuo about "ever" but not in recent memory, no

WRTTOP:

I wouldn't mind having had the 'failures' that John Madejski has had over the years. Being down to my last 100-odd million would obviously be a worrying time, but i'd get through it.

I read somewhere that he now takes a salary as chairman now that the Russian owns 51% of the club, Maybe it was on the published accounts as those details usually have to be made public for the benefit of shareholders

Ah so that's the TSI "consultants" then.

SCIAG
3points Love the optimism of selling players for £20m. let's see how we could get there

McCArthy £3m
McCleary £3m
Obita £2m
Alf £2m
Williams £1.5m
Gunter £1.5m
Guthrie £1.5m
Karacan £1m
Pearce £1m
Morrison £1m
HRK £0.75m
Feds £0.5m
Kelly £0.5m

Total £19.25m plus anything for Akpan, Blackman, Cummings, Andersen, Kuhl.

Might just get to about 20m if we sell everyone.

You forget that we have Nicky Hammond. If he can get £2m for Sonko then he can get it for Pearce. £2m is the rumoured fee for Kuhl, so you'd be looking at significantly more for Obita. I also think we should look to match the £3.5m Stoke paid for Jack Butland, particularly as McCarthy is a proven Premier League goalkeeper. Guthrie's fee could also be significantly higher - compare with what Hull paid for Huddlestone.

I think the whole point is moot. We don't need to make a huge profit, we just need to break even.

Looks like I was being overly optimistic on the ALF transfer fee at £2m

Royal Lady Last week the club parted company with its commercial director in an attempt to cut costs.

^^ This is actually quite pitiful. I wonder how much they are saving on this poor bloke's salary - not enough for the accountants to even notice I shouldn't wonder...
Plus, in the short term at least it probably cost them more as they would presumably have paid severance/redundancy costs.... so costing them more cash when there is a cash tax bill due.

I suggest the board members/chairman sacrifice their salaries first as they've not done enough to earn them by allowing things to get into this state.

They should sack their PR team, although to be fair, I doubt Sir John would listen to any experts employed to advise him on talking to the media as he doesn't always come across well and now that word has got out about the club being in financial troubles that's going to make sponsors think twice about handing money over and suppliers all the more eager to get what they are rightfully owed.

Or it's a PR masterstroke

With so many clubs on the market, you need to look like a bargain and an 'easy' sale

Many of the other clubs up for sale will have debts larger than ours, but will be covering it up to look "healthy"

We look like the 'poorly' wildebeest so get consumed first leaving the others to continue their life of fear and worry

Latest from Sir John Madejski
As Chairman, I would like to confirm that we have the necessary funding in place to safely take the club forward.

Together, we continue to look for new ownership of the Club and, as the wealth of speculation can attest, there has been plenty of interest but no firm offers.

However, it is imperative that there is no rush to judgement and that we take the necessary time in choosing the right person for the future of Reading Football Club.

While there is no takeover with any new investors, the process is ongoing. I would like to take this opportunity to assure our fans that the club is secure going forward.

The club can announce that Directors Anton Zingarevich, Christopher Samuelson and Andrew Obolensky have left the board.

I would also like to thank our supporters for their trust and patience during this period and their loyalty in renewing their season tickets for the 2014-15 season.

During my 24-year tenure as Chairman, I have always tried to be as open as possible with our fans - the lifeblood of this club - and as always we will continue to keep our supporters fully informed at every turn.

However, I am sure everyone can appreciate that it would not be appropriate for me or anyone at the club to comment any further on matters regarding potential ownership and investment at this point in time.

Well yes it has as we would no longer be paying them £20k each per month and they are not involved in the boardroom decisions.

Yes.

I was really trying to save myself the trouble of cutting and pasting most of the last 5 pages of the buyout thread.
