Petition: New Stadium - Grimsby Town

by Nelly GTFC » 18 Aug 2014 17:55

Hi there Royals fans :)

Any chance I can get some extra signatures for my club to acquire a new stadium? Only takes a few minutes, we would really appreciate your help.

We have been trying for the last 20 years, but setbacks due to location, nimby's, and funding have set us back.

This is an official petition made by Grimsby Town Football Club over the last few months, which will be handed into our local council for planning permission.

Circa 500 permanent jobs, and 500 temporary construction jobs. For the long term survivability of the club, not only will it help the club, it will help with community projects in Education and Health.

stay at the old ground and avoid the curse of RetroFans banging on about how no terracing means your club has lost its soul

The local council are there to represent the needs of local people, signatures from the local area are the only ones that should carry any weight otherwise I'd start a petition now to have Swindon's ground demolished.

Good luck Nelly; will your new ground be in Grimsby, or will it still be (football pub quiz question coming up) in Cleethorpes?

It was considered, but the plastic, devoid of atmosphere grounds within easy reach were rejected out of hand.

Will be in Grimsby :)

We are currently losing around 200k a year, that's staying as a full-time football club, and have 2 million of benign debt, so we need a new stadium to attain extre revenue, also it will have on site parking, something that is impossible currently at Blundell Park, as it's surrounded by housing so it's very limited in development, the training ground is the other side of Grimsby. New community stadium will virtually guarantee the long term survivability of the club.

Here is where it will be, and where we currently are...
