Would the World Cup really go ahead without Germany, Italy, France, Ourselves and the Netherlands....? Seeing as that is 10 Cup wins and a fair few runners up, would the major sponsors really be interested in that? I haven't included Spain, as they are going to vote for Blatter....I assume that is mainly because of the proven vote collusion with Qatar and the probabilty of Blatter ratting on them if they didn't. He let them off very lightly when the vote collusion was proven......

Victor Meldrew ....who knows, if the FA manages to continue to supress details of fans' violence that still exist in this country and manages to convince FIFA that this is a safe country in which to hold a tournament, we might get the world cup again in 2066.

Suppression of human rights violations and rampant racism wasn't necessary for Qatar and Russia to have successful bids.

I wonder why that might have been.

Aren't we about to try to suppress human rights?
That might put us in the frame for earlier than 2066.

I see Victor is quite outspoken in this subject today. Shame he hasn't mentioned the anniversary of Heysel.

Kitsondinho So Blatter is now saying all of football must take responsibilty (including him) for the changes that need to be made. Yesterday, he was explaining it wasn't his fault and therefore it wasn't his responsibility. Gotta love Sepp logic. As for UEFA, why the delegates who aren't gonna vote for him later didn't walk out on him this morning, I don't know. Yes the same would happen to Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein later on....but Blatter is going to win anyway! UEFA, Australia, US, Canada and NZ need to work together on this to oust him. Don't vote, boycott FIFA until he goes. If he doesn't, don't allow European based players to travel to W/Cup qualifiers etc....The CL clubs would LOVE that!

Spot on. Then let's see where all those nations that support Blatter go when they realise that without involvement from those parties their football revenue will more or less dry up.

Whilst I can't disagree, isn't the reason for Blatter popularity is because those groups are a bit anti- UEFA? As in they have all the money...big money TV rights, massive clubs that can buy up all their talent...

Wrong.
Do you really have to advertise your own topics under other topics?
I haven't checked the ongoing Liverpool one yet but I suspect you will be there as the record holder of posts within that topic.

the biggest shocker for me is the 10 million promised by south Africa for votes for 2010 to jack warner, which because sth Africa were skint FIFA paid from their own pocket....

that's a 10 million bribe, just for votes on a world cup, that fifa are apparently totally happy about.

its a right mess and no mistake.

but they'll vote him in again, because its in the interests of their gravy train to have a leader who doesn't give a oxf*rd, and wont bother doing anything

he is either incompetent, in that he had no idea that every one around him was bribing the shit out of everyone/taking bribes.
or
he knew, and did oxf*rd all
or he knew and was involved

either way, any head of a major organisation in the same boat would have resigned.

He's the Don.

He knew. He encouraged it. He didn't touch it, others will take the fall unless someone flips.

Surely the most logical outcome is to go the way of Darts and Boxing and set up a rival to FIFA.

I'd go for the World Football Association, then organise your own tournament.

French journo was on 5Live today and said Blatter had a 'poison book'

"Ah you mean as a metaphor, just figuratively has the dirt on people?"

Nope: " Blatter had everything about everyone involved written down and logged in a book and one day he may write his memoirs."

Campbell just laughed then gulped.

You are indeed correct EIL. Blatter has massively exploited this feeling to gain relection each time. It also helps that (apparently unknown to him) a lot of money has made its way to many of these smaller FAs...However, UEFA also provide a massive amount of the same said money and FIFA without them, especially their players, would be much weaker. Would the main sponsors want to pay into a World Cup without Messi because Barca won't release him. They don't have to and I suspect that national pride would be overriden by their (understandable) desire to be paid, insured etc. Blatter was always going to get re elected this week. That is why those voting for him wanted the election now. As more and more of the allegations come out and UEFA (hopefully) ramp up the pressure, the next 6 months are going to be very tough for our Sepp. I'm convinced he won't last that long this time.

We know UEFA is not perfect e.g. it suffers from a bad case of the tail wagging the dog and in the last 4 years hasn't even had the intelligence/bottle to build up support for it's own candidate who could look at the good that has happened under Blatter (and yes there is some) and use that as a platform to move forward on, but it is the only region that could hurt FIFA enough to force the changes needed at the top.

Now UEFA will prove it's all talk and no bite.

Perhaps, just one day, we'll have a set of organisations (locally, nationally and globally) that do actually look after football for the good of the game and nothing else rather than pandering to big clubs and/or looking after no. 1 etc.

Just goes to show the real world order.

Europe poncing and fidgeting about trying to get noticed like a restless school pupil who wants the loo.

As soon as the U.S and its corporations consider some wrongdoing and that things have gone too far = We have some proper action i.e. they will actually get off their arses and do something about it.
