I do remember those occurrences but isn't it a bit like us holding a grudge against McGhee?

Brighton don't care about us. As yet another 13 page thread on NSC will testify.

Would be more like us holding a grudge against Leicester.

They have to be the most deluded bunch of old fannies you are ever going to meet judging from NSC. They are massive, their fans had more lads than West Ham and Chelsea combined in the eighties and were a fearless mob, they are the patron saint of all football causes, and to cap it all they are now sticking it to the man by having the best shirt sponsor of the top two divisons in American Express, a US corporate giant specialising in loaning people money at extortionate rates of interest. I am surprised they are not writing to the FA to get them to change our quarter final date as surely our league game against the Man United of the south should take precedence as more people will want to see them play on Sky. Cocks.

Coppelled_Streets 3 FA Cup 1/4 Finals in 7 years, and 1 Semi Final. Not bad at all.

Thats right - we're a team in decline.

The Palace game is very winnable - could be 2nd SF in 2 years, and at least noone could say we got there via an easy route (easier maybe, but not easy).

That really is stunning.

Brighton is a nice place in parts. Usually the bits that have been taken over by people who aren't from Brighton.

Moulsecomb. Whitehawk. The Lewes Road. Once you get away from where the trustafarians and London commuters live it's like any town with a long history of in-breeding, economic collapse and isolation. Long used in the 70s and 80s by London authorities as a dumping ground for their worst substance abusers and problem tenants, that generation has left a long term legacy of petty (and not so) petty criminals; damaged children turning into damaged adults. From the mansions of gang-land bosses and tax cheats on Dyke Road to the shooting galleries in Whitehawk's tower blocks, Brighton represents a terrifying view of an all American future. Social apartheid. And, let's be honest, we can probably work out which side of the line the NSC contributors live, tapping away at MacBooks in hipster cafés drinking skinny lattes banging on how Reading lacks authenticity.

Kemp Town is nice, the North Line has got some nice shops. The sea's nice, but then it's the same sea in Worthing or Eastbourne, isn't it?

Seriously, anyone should have some sympathy with the plight of BHA, shafted by owners and their own local authority for so long. The wannabe hard men and self-appointed guardians of some sort of working class legitimacy on NSC can go fück themselves though.

It's absolutely rediculous some of those comments and the sheer bitterness is frightening. I can't understand their issue with us. If what they say is true... then who cares, move on? Also the guy opening that thread must be the one with the chip on his shoulder as he describes the utter horror of being forced to live in Reading as he has no other choice.

This is Franchise FC with some lower league history. This is Watford with an out of town stadium.

Watford with an out of town stadium isn't an unfair comparison, but saying we are Franchise FC... in what way? We have hardly thrown money at the club in huge numbers, and I'm sure our current squad costs less than Brighton's.

Reading fans are Chelsea fans who can't get a ticket at Stamford Bridge. These are the sort of people who embraced their new stadium being nicknamed the MadStad - FFS

I don't particularly care what the name of the stadium is... however maybe they need to look up their stadium name as it is called "The Amex Stadium" and the internet states that this is for sponsorship purposes as the American Express Community Stadium,

but then it would be true to say I couldn't give a to55

This from a poster who seems to have typed up a post full of criticism and bile. I'd have a lot more respect for someone openly admitting they just hate our club whether that's because "they just do", or for some other specific reason.

I flicked to Page 12 and saw posts including "Brighton is the only city in the UK to be in the top 10 on Tripadvisor for...".

Yea, that's great. I've been to Brighton twice and can't say much about it as I was there for a very short time. I'd imagine a lot of people on their forum criticising Reading (the place) haven't spent long there so I find it just a bit grating that they are that opinionated and narrow minded not to actually be fair in their comments - mind you that is like most fans to be fair.

I'm under no illusions with Reading FC. They describe us as a poorly supported club. I would disagree in a "home match" sense as we get a fair number for a Championship club. But certainly for away games I can see their point as we don't travel well compared to others.

I wonder if these people commenting so negatively and bitterly on Reading and RFC are like this in real life. Do they fail to see other people's views, do they acknowledge that they may not be in the best position to start criticising, do they acknowledge that they may not be sufficiently educated on a certain area or topic to start making sweeping statements.

Oh and just to balance up the argument here:

[tongue-in-cheek mode]
I hate Brighton. They are a really small club and their town (sorry, City) is a dump. Everyone there is miserable. I went once for 2 hours and remember thinking "I can't beleive people live here"

They sold out massively, and can't believe they actually get behind their club's decision to sell out and call their stadium "The Amex"

They are small nobodies... they are a Charlton of the coast, or maybe Bristol Rovers of the coast - both of whom are bigger clubs

[/tongue-in-cheek mode]

Tbf proportionally they probably don't care about us.

13 pages isn't a lot for the biggest club on the south coast with the longest and most successful history and the largest fanbase in the world, dwarfing the likes of Manchester United and the La Liga giants Real Madrid or Barcelona.

I once got a question marked wrong in a pub quiz, because I answered 'Brighton' instead of 'Brighton and Hove Albion'. That's the extent of my h8 for them.

I do find their h8red of us hilarious, especially as it's always caveated by the fact that they don't give us a second thought. "I HATE THOSE FCUKING TINPOT W@NKERS FOR ALL THESE REASONS. But no one cares about them, especially not me :!: "

Congratulations to them, looking good for finishing above little tinpot Reading for about the third time in 20 years. If they can keep this up for another three or four years they'll manage to narrow our average league placing for that period to less than an entire division's worth of teams above them.

That thread is just a bit

QUESTION.....

Trying not to sound stupid here, however is there another draw after the results of the quarter final, to see who plays who in the semi's or is it set e.g. winners A play winners C etc.?

The reason I ask is I was bantering a West Ham fan about looking forward to beating them in the semi if we draw them out of the hat. His response was there are no more draws and we would actually end up against Arsenal in the semi, once they beat Hull and Watford.

Is this true?

Pretty certain there was a semi final draw between us, Villa, Liverpool & Arsenal last year.

I actually wasn't sure myself but this article confirms there was a draw I'd say: http://www.thefa.com/news/the-fa-cup/20 ... raw-070315

Former Reading, #SCFC, #CFC, #AVFC & #FFC midfielder Steve Sidwell is on #SSNHQ this morning from 10am!

No mention of Brighton, I guess they really are non-existent.

Perhaps because he plays for them currently, and is therefore not "former".

Although, of course that tweet implies its his former clubs that are important, not his current club.
