Absolutely, and that's what you need to win ultimately.

My point was more that teams need a blend of characters as well as players to be successful and I'm not sure it's fair to tar all the players there with the same mentally weak brush just because the manager doesn't put enough nastiness around them.

Fair comment. But they need a proper LEADER who is a bit nasty.

Barcelona are full of leaders who get a bit nasty aren't they?

Arsenal must have some of the worst fans in the country. Couple of them texting into the BBC that they are considering "renouncing their fanship".

Embarrassing stuff. Not quite as embarrassing as losing to a youth side and relegation candidates in the space of 4 days tbf.

Cech injured himself running back from the late corner he went up for and misses the game against Spurs.

You couldn't make it up!

Not every player has the strength of character to be a winner on their own. Most need other people to bring out the best in them. That's the same in any walk of life, and at any age.

Wenger is (well, was) a great manager but I'm not sure he was a real leader of men - a to the trenches lads type of guy who could inspire and instil a little bit of fear, both in their team mates and the opposition.

His successful teams had others who could provide that element in Adams, Vierra et al.

He doesn't have any of those right now.

Simple as that really.

Cue a good thrashing of Spurs I suppose.

Coquelin may have just ended Arsenal's chances there. Oops.

Going back to the example at the top of the page, when he went in, he made a point of getting Adams et al onside. He might not be the type you're talking of, but he at least once recognised the necessity of it. Somewhere in the mid00s, he stopped.

TBF to the bloke, he was on ArsenalFanTV last night saying that he wanted to put the banner up at Spurs but didn't want to give their fans the satisfaction of seeing the banner etc etc

He had some proper e-Beef with Ian Wright last night too, lolz all round

It's not new though is it? Pretty sure I've seen it on a number of occasions before, only to swiftly disappear when they go ona decent run again.

It's a bit like Thou Voice on here, only ever shows up here after a bad result and can't be seen otherwise. Absolute spanner.

BBC WEBSITE UPDATE
magnificent hold-up play from Troy Deeney, who receives the ball in the penalty area, then lays it back to the Algerian, who absolutely marmalizes it into the top corner

Cracking use of marmalizes
