One of my suggestions which got laughed at for was to have sensors at the side of the pitch that emit rays, and attach pads to the players which are different for each team so then it will by the MM say which player is where. Foolproof.BR0B0T wrote:there is no workable way of VAR doing offside that doesn't come down to measuring a finite point

Having an accountancy qualification doesn't mean you have to be an accountant.Platypuss wrote:Not bad for an accountant.Simmops wrote:One of my suggestions which got laughed at for was to have sensors at the side of the pitch that emit rays, and attach pads to the players which are different for each team so then it will by the MM say which player is where. I did mine fully intending to go right to the top as a CFO of an international conglomerate, but I took a different path. Although 1st of all I did make use of the accountancy.BR0B0T wrote:I'm also part qualified* ACCA...did a finance degree made sense to do a few of the examsSimmops wrote:Having an accountancy qualification doesn't mean you have to be an accountant.Platypuss wrote:

And indeed overturned Cresswell's red to a yellow at the London Stadium.John Madejski's Wallet wrote:I don't understand the VAR decision in the Watford-Wolves match...…..the ref saw the whole thing and decided a yellow and the VAR overturned that to a red.
But the VAR didn't show anything the ref hadn't seen, that was literally re-refereeing a decision rather than spotting something the ref missed.
Didn't realise that was a thing
Why is it unfair?URZZZZ wrote:Think it’s ridiculous and completely unfair that only some FA Cup games get VAR and others don’t. Just let it go Let’s just hope we don’t get an away Prem draw!
VAR kept Tranmere in the cup at Watford while not having it at Cardiff probably kept Cardiff in the competition.Royal Rother wrote:Why is it unfair?URZZZZ wrote:Think it’s ridiculous and completely unfair that only some FA Cup games get VAR and others don’t. Who gains / loses any advantage as a result of only some games having VAR coverage?
Isnt a big part of cup competitions the unlevel playing field?URZZZZ wrote:Think it’s ridiculous and completely unfair that only some FA Cup games get VAR and others don’t. Just let it go Let’s just hope we don’t get an away Prem draw!
Not from a refereeing perspective.Winston Biscuit wrote:Isnt a big part of cup competitions the unlevel playing field?URZZZZ wrote:Think it’s ridiculous and completely unfair that only some FA Cup games get VAR and others don’t. Just let it go Let’s just hope we don’t get an away Prem draw!
Are the same rules in place all the way back to the first round?Snowflake Royal wrote:Not from a refereeing perspective.Winston Biscuit wrote:Isnt a big part of cup competitions the unlevel playing field?URZZZZ wrote:Think it’s ridiculous and completely unfair that only some FA Cup games get VAR and others don’t. Completely agree with URZzz different rules for different games in the same competition is crazy. And it is different rules because of the way offsides are officiated with VAR at the very least.
In terms of VAR, no because it's only at PL grounds isn't it... otherwise yeah I can't think of anything different otherwise.Winston Biscuit wrote:Are the same rules in place all the way back to the first round?Snowflake Royal wrote:Not from a refereeing perspective.Winston Biscuit wrote:

Not trying to be argumentative here, genuinely interested. And I hate VAR
But there is no advantage to anyone as a result of VAR so it would be daft not to use it to give more accuracy in the officiating.Snowflake Royal wrote:Not from a refereeing perspective.Winston Biscuit wrote:Isnt a big part of cup competitions the unlevel playing field?URZZZZ wrote:Think it’s ridiculous and completely unfair that only some FA Cup games get VAR and others don’t. There may not be an advantage to anyone with VAR but then surely there’s a disadvantage for teams without VAR who are on the end of incorrect decisionsRoyal Rother wrote:But there is no advantage to anyone as a result of VAR so it would be daft not to use it to give more accuracy in the officiating.Snowflake Royal wrote:Not from a refereeing perspective.Winston Biscuit wrote:

If anything there might be a slight gain (not advantage) to the lower ranked teams against PL teams as there is a valid perception that the latter TEND to be given the rub of the green in marginals.
