Are we at cross purposes? I was talking about Gourlay becoming CEO at WBA the day they sack Ismael. A section of West Brom fans are pointing to his time at Chelsea as evidence that he's a decent appointment.

I do agree about Lampard though, he did an OK job at Chelsea in the circumstances and should do well at Everton.

ISTR it was illegal poaching of young players from other clubs.

They got done over a decade ago in respect to an illegal approach to sign Gael Kakuta but I was understood that the recent ban had something to do with something like 150 instances of using unregistered players in official games and listing them as trialists despite them already having signed professional contracts.

Rodgers didn't fail miserably here though. It was Nigel Howe who Rodgers didn't get on with, who demanded SJM sacked him because BR wasn't giving him the regular updates he wanted.
