checked out the youtube vid from his time at oxford. Looks ok, some nice goals and assists. Does look pretty direct. Not sure he'll exactly excel at Champ level but at least he is fit (hopefully) and can provide an option. Looks nicely two footed.

Lowdown on Barker:

- Very Quick but limited end product
- Often tries too much but can leave a defender for dead.
- Ok crossing ability.
- Didnt play much for us, more a benchwarmer
- Not a flashy player but very direct.
- Was on loan at Oxford and done very well

Would require a change of emphasis to hitting teams on the counter and actually leaving at least one or two players forward when defending set pieces, ffs.

Yep. Most of us (you for sure) are smart enough to take youtube vids in context.

This doesn't really make a great deal of sense, but might do if we go down and we keep him on and we can't keep the likes of Hoilett and/or Halilovic on next season.

Has to be this, doesn't it? Hoilett is/has been a solid Championship player. And no way Halilovic will stick around for League One, even if his Barca days are well behind him.

Putting the state of our club aside for a moment I actually quite like this type of signing.

- Comes from Man City youth academy so a fairly decent pedigree
- Has played games at this level for Preston and Rotherham so some level of experience of the league
- Potential to sign permanently next season

Due to the embargo we can’t offer longer term deals but at 25 there would be potential for resale if he done well for us as well.
