Simon's Church

Simon's Church QPR apparently bringing in Michael Beale as their new manager, seems to be very highly rated coach. Interesting to see how he gets on in his first management role.

saving me a google - where is he from? background.

Worked his way up through Chelsea, then Liverpool and has been working with Gerrard at Rangers and Villa.

Not surprised someone is giving him a go and he want's to test himself. Will either be a massive success or back as a coach somewhere else by spring.

NathStPaul Oh come on Vic, people go down to Bournemouth to die. Also see Eastbourne.

Tell that to the footballers that I quoted.

It is just their careers that go there to die.

There are 3 big questions for Fulham next season;

1. Will the Mitrovic that turns up be from Premier League 2020/21, or Championship 2021/22?
2. How well do they strengthen their defence?
3. Will Silva finally cut it as a Premier League Manager, or will he be found out again?

For all their goals, losing 10 games (more than Bournemouth, the same number as Huddersfield) does not bode well for them next season.

Personally, I think of the 3 promoted sides Bournemouth are the ones most likely to survive.

Southampton, Brentford, Forest, Fulham, Bournemouth, Leeds
Any 3 from 6 although there's still a chance Everton come up on the rails
This, more than most previous attempts, I can see as a positive for Fulham

speaking of Fulham, seriously how long is that stand taking to build. Seems an eternity. Only the bottom tier will be used next season. Wont be ready until 23/24 - i guess its complex with its location, but that just seems crazy to me.

Bristol have been losing over £400.000 a week for 3 years. How the hell have the EFL / FFP not crucified them yet?

Not sure I’d completely discount Brighton or Palace but probably unlikely either will be relegated. Sometimes an unexpected team is dragged into a relegation battle. I’ll go for a bottom 3 of Bournemouth, Forest and Brentford (not if Eriksen stays).

YorkshireRoyal99 I think from the size of the club and support, players would be more "interested" in Forest than either Fulham or Bournemouth. But obviously that isn't the only determining factor in a players' decision to join a club. It is difficult to say either way really.

Forest are the new boys and reports today that the PL are opening an investigation into their owner - I think they will be at the back of the queue for PL signings. Fulham and Bournemouth have much more history of late in the top flight.

I'm in my 40s and I can barely remember Forest in the top flight.

I can't see 20 something pros being impressed that Forest were last decent, let alone winners, before they were born.

I think it’s basically guaranteed that anyone they sign this summer will give some platitudes about the history. Just like how certain players of ours talk about how they admired Paul Ince as a player despite them being too young to have had much awareness of him.

Whether it actually causes anyone to pick them ahead of Fulham… yeah I can’t see that.

Oh yeah, anyone who actually signs will probably bang the big club history drum to get the fans onside.

It's possible that for any players under 24 that their Dad can barely remember Forest being a decent top flight club.

I was actually in London the day Forest last played in a major cup final.

Our current manager played in that match.

Only 2 players in that game are younger than me and I'm in my 50s

I worry for Wolves, they finished very poorly. I'd add in Palace and even Brighton as in with a shout. Of the bottom three.

Might have a bet on those three (individually), the odds are prolly decent.

Apparently there is a potential takeover at Norwich City in the making.

Man City bounced around the leagues for decades. All that history air brushed aside now.

Well yes but comparing Man City, who whilst transformed have just completed their 20th consecutive season in the top flight and only spent 9 years outside the top flight in 56 years to Forest who will start their first season in the top flight in 24 years come August is a little apples with pears.
