Snowflake Royal Lumley is going to seriously damage my calm and blood pressure this season if he keeps taking these ridiculous risks.

He really does look like he leaves everything to the last millisecond.

He's certainly confident and comfortable on the ball. But I don't really like to see our keeper deliberately choosing to take on a striker when he doesn't have to. Get it slightly wrong and it's an instant goal.

Plus he plays some very risky passes straight into central midfield. We conceded a couple of goals like that being bullied, beaten to the ball, or going slightly wayward last season.

Well that was a pretty decent performance.

Lumley’s distribution was a step up on what we suffered last season, despite the risky moments.

I think we might be the surprise package this season, in fact I saw enough to warrant a cheeky couple of quid e/w.

That was a good work out and test. Friendlies mean nothing vs how your season will go

Haven’t seen any of the game but that was a very strong West Ham squad and we appear to have more than held our own. That’s encouraging.

Thought the same
Ish

Saw enough to make me think we'll be worth watching. And with luck competitive

That's good enough for me

Thought it was an OK display, maybe a little negative, but guess we're starting the season to keep games tight, still don't see what Ejaria offers but with a tiny squad guess we need to put up with his backwards passing and general slowness, saw in 5 minutes what long will bring to us. Was impressed with most the youngsters second half and held their own. Slightly hoping we'll avoid another relegation scrap, but lots of that will be luck with injuries and hoping Ince can use the 5 man sub rule better than our previous managers.

I had to work today so I couldn’t get to the game but the reports sound promising. Did the left back from Wimbledon look useful? The only position I am concerned about now.

I thought so, but by the time he came on, West Ham had subbed on some academy lads. Hope he gets another game to show more of what he can do.

Yeah liked Obi Wan (might as well get that nickname going now) - he is under 24 isn't he?, so Wimbledon would be due comp but we must be confident that we can strike a deal for us to play him. Maybe if he signs, we'll send someone down there on loan?

He’s only been with Wimbledon for 3 seasons so wouldn’t be due very much comp. played non league before that.

Cheers for confirming. I have a good feeling about this season, not sure why, but I think we’ll surprise a few teams/pundits.

+1

Think that we have a good spread of experience and young hungry go-getters with lots to prove.
Reckon Ince will get the best from most of them.

What will be will be, but at least it should be entertaining.

If we have to pay compensation for him, the EFL will not allow us to sign him. Hopefully, we can find a way around this,

Depends how much it is and how we are doing against the plan.
We aren’t prohibited from paying, we just can’t pay more than the figure in our agreement (which found be zero !), or we might be able to persuade the league we can afford £5000

All it said was that he rejected a contract offer from Wimbledon. I believe compensation is only payable if they offered him terms equal to or better than his old contract. Considering they got relegated, there is a possibility that is not the case.

Decent write up on the OS from yesterday.

Liked the look of the lad Clarke at CB. Bit of a mistake on one ball over him which the forward then fluffed as Lumley made himself big, but a couple of really good runs tracking a hammer to the byline and shepparding the ball out with good strength. And a great tackle from nowhere to deny a clear goalscoring opportunity when a hammer looked clean through and certain to score.

It sounds like apart from possibly BOO and Hutchinson all of the initial trialists have now gone. It’s good to hear that Hutchinson will be offered a contract. I thought that we might offer one to Wickham too just because he was another option upfront but not fussed if they have let him go.

A change of subject Derby have now signed Korey Smith. They should really tear up League 1 next season but I know it doesn’t always go that way.
