Is there a culture of linesmen not arguing with referees?

I ask, because in incidents like this, surely at least one of the linesmen would be thinking the ref has got it wrong.

It was sort of like the ref thought that if only the attacking side encroached, then it's a free kick (if the ball goes in the net) but I find it hard to believe all the officials would come to the same incorrect understanding.

In all my years of refereeing and through all my levels I never had an argument or witnessed one to be fair. Either as assistant or referee. We remain loyal throughout. We might have a conversation after the game and might say “you got that wrong” and actually in a game you might say that and between you a call is made.

Presumably also referees grade assistants in some way - or at least have a say in their advancement? So there's a clear incentive for assistants - who presumably want to be promoted to referees - not to p*ss them off.

Yeah - so from step 9… Wessex league and higher, referee would mark the assistants and submit weekly. I would say that is a strong factor in “team” approach because it’s them scores which can advance you, be appointed for the key games or cup finals.

Royals and Racers Lot of postponements tonight. One match that will be on is the Oxfordshire Senior cup QF Oxford City v Oxford Utd KO 7.45pm - i am diverting from Bracknell to attend.

City 4 Utd 2- decent game before 237 crowd. City finished with 10 men.

By one from Maidstone. However only the top 5 teams (Wrexham, Notts, Chesterfield, Woking and Barnet) have scored more than Dorking and Dorking are the only team to have beaten Notts County in the league so far.

Referee's fault yet again on Saturday. Their manager is utterly tiresome.

Haven't been there for a couple of years or more but they have / had a decent sized car park on site, where you paid for entry to the ground on entry to the car park - up pretty much a single track road. Without sat nav it might be a bit of a difficult one to find. Gawd knows where you would park when it's full, which it probably will be if you can't be early.

(However, all that said, with bigger attendances and an ever-improving set up, the entry system and parking areas might well have been updated since I last went.)

Binfield supposedly has over 100 parking spaces at Hill Farm Lane.

There is nowhere to park near the ground, you could potentially walk from central Binfield though. It would be about a 15 minute walk. There is a fairly decent amount of parking spaces. Provided you get there about an hour before kick off you should be ok.

Just googled mapped it - christ, its literally in the middle of nowhere!! Country lanes everywhere. I'd imagine Basingstoke would bring a good following. Well, i will be getting there late, lets hope they can squeeze me in, last in and first out etc etc.

There’s a small car park near the church too but there’s no pavement alongside what can be a pretty busy road so would suggest a flashlight and/or high vis wear if you try it.

Thank you - Got my new bobble hat with torch - can wear that just to embarrass my son! Looking on website, they don't get many there, average about 150 i think - expect that to be significantly bumped up on Tuesday.

They now do have turnstiles. I’m going to 1 of the 3 Berks and Bucks Senior cup matches on tomorrow and presently i’m hoping to make the long trip to Newport Pagnell v Bracknell, which if i do will be a new ground for me.

I've been there for a crowd of about 500 for a derby with Bracknell. They put cars on the field next to the pitch.

Binfield 0-1 Basingstoke - Reid 75'

...didn't offer that option tonight so the Church Car Park was open and lots opted for the main rd leading up to Stubbs La - is indeed a bit dark/hazardous for pedestrians
... I got there by about 19:10 ish plenty of spaces at the ground still.
Crowd was 338 didn't seem unduly full - was a fair turnout of 'Stoke fans
'Moles' played the brighter in approach play but visitors were far more effective out of possession- very few clear chances for either side.
Ol Vet 'Strudders' as safe & calm as ever in the away goal. Think he should have been tested under the high ball more often but the Hosts only really tried the 'slinging it in there' tactic very late on - probably too late.
Binfield's keeper looked pretty decent too - good shot stopper in the main - big lad - but then nearly every keeper is, compared to Strudley
Basingstoke aren't easy on the eye but are very good at what they do and are genuine title prospects - can't see many within the chasing pack nudging them aside in the race for promotion.

Will try and round up other scores from midweek before the usual w/e ramblings ....
